Im in the market looking for some s-techs. I was told ebay has really good prices on them, but they look too good to be true (authentic, real) has anyone had experience with ebay tein stuff??

People aren't allowed to advertise that they're true Tein products if they're not. It's possible it happens, but ebay works quickly to eliminate it if it occurs. The issue is that ebay can be sued for allowing phony products to be sold. So, people selling knockoffs misspell it, you can see it happen alot with their body kits. MSPO or MS instead of MSport, or JUN Style rather than JUN.

I never had a problem with eBay because I usually check the seller's feedback rating before I bid.
Check his/her ratings and what customers have said. Read the negative feedbacks and see what the auction was for. Could save you a lot of time and money.

stechs suck? aww... well Id get coilovers and all that stuff first but im saving up for a 300whp setup =P
Greddy FMIC / Full RSR Exhaust / Walboro / 550cc / ECU / GT28R Garret / ACT Stage 3
I dont know that much stuff about suspension and rims, I got some reading to do before I start setting up my suspension to see what will actually suite me and what I have planned for the car.
As for the s-tecs, I wanted to get them just to make the car look a little bit better and get rid of a little bit of body roll.

If you're spending all that money to get 300rwhp, why go cheap on suspension?

uhh like i said thats just for now, the car is currently completely stock so i dont care about good expensive suspension mods

Just keep the suspension stock then. Don't waste money on it if you're going to get coilovers later on.
If you are going to get springs, get the Espelir ones.

Don't do power first.. big mistake. Take it from me. I went COMPLETELY backwards... turbo, brakes, and now finally suspension.

12-19-2005, 02:51 AM
well im gonna blend in the power with footwork.... stock t25 front mount and exhaust then change to 300zx brakes and ruca or something, u get what i mean? i jsut cant stand having such a slow ass car, getting beat, when just messing around, by an integra or gt really fucking sucks =P besides i use to have a 210whp car before my gf crashed it, so imagine driving a stock ka right now? after having that? its horrible !!

12-19-2005, 02:54 AM
Yah, I do.. but turbo is alot. You end up getting sucked in until its 100% finished and spend all your money. Then, your car handles like ass, but goes very fast. If you're okay with that, then by all means.

if all you care about is straight line speed on like a ricer street racer, you bought the wrong car
Turbo first is a mistake
300hp is useless on stock suspension and what, kumho 711's?

Eibach Sportlines paired with KYB AGX shocks is a good setup if you don't want to spend a lot of money. As far as I know it's the next best thing to coilovers. I got mine used for about $350 all assembled and everything. I like them quite a bit, but like everyone else is saying, get coilovers. I wish I would have got coilovers now but I don't care enough about them to spend $1000. On another note, anything is better than stock suspension.
Don't get Tein lowering springs, don't get GR-2's and don't put lowering springs on stock struts.

i got s.techs and i like them. im getting coilovers one day, whenever that maybe. but if your on a budget i suggest you get them. only other springs i recommend are espelirs, just like what downshift180 suggested. or some rsr. but yea i got mine for like $120 shipped brand new and i cant complain. does what its supposed to!

well the way you responded in this post above and to OptionZero's post makes it very clear of what you really want. JUST power, right?
because when you put it like "300zx brakes and ruca or something...," no, people do not get what you mean, and you sound very ignorant when you put it in that way.
and about having a powerful car that can beat those ricers...I know how you feel. I used to drive a nicely modded max with approx ~180whp (sufficient), and switching to a stock KA (125-ish hp), it was a huge change. Basically, I had to suck it up whenever nicely modded small cars would zoom by me. I guess I learned to deal with it, and figured out that there's a whole world more to auto performance than just straight line speed (like good tires, good damping, etc). just my 2¢, I hope it can change your outlook for the better, and that you really don't need to feel bad when some guy tries to show off his masculinity with a piece of metal.
anyway, if you're really in the market for 'budget lowering,' used aftermarket springs would probably be your best bet.

Reality check, stech isnt gonna get rid of any body roll. It's practically as soft as stock.
Case in point: 180whp and we were two wheeling a car middrift on track. It was on stech w/ AGX set to full-stiff.
We're lucky it didn't flip.
Again, buy Sportlines (cause theyre cheap and better than stech) or dont waste your money on springs at all, and just wait for coilovers.

Straight line speed? no where in my post did i say i wanted to make a drag car or even mention straight line drag racing. And you sound pretty ignorant to not even understand the concept of modifying a car by what it needs, ex. with more power more stopping power will be needed.
Dont get me wrong Im not all street racer freak that I have to race every car I see, but its really annoying when people down grade your car thinking theyre better than you.
What do I really want? no not just power, but a overall very well built car that I can auto x, drift, or just daily drive
thx for all your responses, Ill look into those other springs !

How do S-techs suck? And how are they as soft as stock?
Stock is roughly 2k/2k...for S13 and S14.
S-techs are 3.7k/3.2k for S13 and 3.8k/3.5k for S14...that's as stiff as Eibach Sportlines, if not a little stiffer in the rear.
Yeah, they're not coilovers...and they're not 8/6 or anythings...but you guys are making them sound like they're made by Aro_Speeed or something.
Quality lowering springs, good company, reasonably stiff for the drop. What's wrong with that?

Yeah you're just so insecure that you're modifying your car based on what other people think about you, and measuring the worth of your car based on how it fares against an integra.
Not a ricer at all, nono...
everyone that's done power first has regretted it, and I assure you a 300hp 240sx with stock everything but S-techs sucks worse than a 100% stock 240sx.
Wouldn't it also make more sense to upgrade brakes before engine? No point in going faster if you can't stop.
then again, if u wanted more stopping power, you would have known to get better tires.

If somone having a faster car then you can make you think less of yourself, then you will never be happy. I don't care if you stuff a Saturn V rocket into the back of a Mini Cooper, someone will always have a faster car somewhere. Don't build your car to be "cooler" or "tougher" then the dipshit next to you at a redlight. Build a car based on real numbers. HP isn't a real number, but TQ and G's are. :D

^^ yup yup i must agree, i admit i thought power first too but, i now drive a stock ka sohc really dam slow but i know my shit we be right when its done.
i also have s-tech on mine, i think there okay but there are better deals out there
OptionZero
12-20-2005, 09:23 PM
better deal than s-techs on stock shocks = stock springs on stock shocks (f-r-e-e)
s-techs are just lowering spring. don't expect much from it. it's just to lower your car to kill the tire gap. all show.

Ok u seriously have something agaisnt s-techs.... and ok my fault for coming on like a lame ass ricer who just wants to be superior to every car i see with an exhaust, no one's perfect, I guess it was my peers who i hung out with in high school that I just got use to the whole "damn that foo is wack, smoke his ass" idea. Yeah Im 19 and I might still reflect immaturity when it comes to getting behind the wheel, but "street racer" isnt me 24/7 everytime I drive. I still have a lot to learn about my car and I read as much as I can about it to know what Im doing. All I asked was for a review on purchasing a product not opinions about it. I live on my own and Im not making $6000 monthly to afford coilovers with ease. This thread got out of hand so stop posting worthless stupid opinions, thx

S-Techs sucking isn't an opinion. They suck. Even for being a linear spring, they aren't that low, and offer very poor rates. They're cheap for a reason. Don't take our "opinions", and facts personally because your first choice was poor.
Take the advice, criticism, and opinions as a template for your final decision.

Hey Scott, S-Techs are progressive... not linear.
They are between 2.5-4kg depending on conditions, although by the time they are compressed enough to hit their max rate, you will flip over =/ so a lot of people are right in this thread, they can be nearly stock rates, and they can be a bit stiffer.
@original poster, get what you think you will be happy with, you have heard all of our opinions/reviews now decide for yourself. if you DO decide to go with the stechs... buy mine haha. if not, save up for some good coils. MR coils can be had for around $900 shipped and they are awsome. i love mine.
