I could use the fuel cutoff trick, but is there a way I can prevent the hood opening from the outside so that thieves wont be able to get through the hood?

yah i seen some guy have this thing in his interior, it was like a hood lock, it ran a steel chorde (much like the hood latch cable) with a lock on the underside of the hood, you need a key to unlock it from the interior.

Thieves can easily open the hood from the outside right? How can I prevent that from happening?

Carry a 9mm and make sure everyone knows you have it... if you live in Texas :rl:
I had a Prelude with hood locks that were hard as shyte to open.... there were times I almost couldn't get the damn hood open. The coolest thing about those hood locks were that they had sprocket keys to them... not just a hood pin set up. Also, you can pick them up at your local Pep-Boys... if you have one. They're made by some Pep-boys brand called Spectre I think

Yes,but if you have alot invested into your car,why not at least greatly deter and delay them? I mean shit, the longer it takes them to get anywhere with stealing your car/stealing shit off or out of your car,the more likely they are to quit and leave for another car,or get caught doing it(thats where being strapped comes in handy :naughty: )

But maybe thats just me?

you want to prevent them from being able to open your hood, period... not just 'from the outside.'

otherwise they could just jimmy your door or break the window and pull the hood latch lever. they'd probably do that anyway... it's pretty hard to drive a car away when you've got the hood open but the doors are still locked.

Sigh...

That's why you read those links someone provided above and take those ideas into your head, think about it, and come up with your own conclusions.

If thieves have to tow your car, they're going to have to tilt one side of the car to get the wheels off the ground right? A tilt sensor will sound your alarm if they jacked up your car to steal your wheels/flat bed your car.

If thieves try to open your hood for whatever reason, a hood sensor will sound your alarm when your hood gets popped when your alarm is armed.

If they break your windows to try to get into your car, a window break sensor will sound your armed alarm.

If they try to take the neg. terminal off of your battery so your alarm would shut up, a battery back up module will supply back up power to your alarm, so it WOULDN'T shut up.

Now, with all those in mind, a 2 way paging alarm will be going off like crazy in your house/apartment, and showing you exactly which sensors have been triggered. Hopefully, by the time you see that, you're also out the door with a baseball bat/9mm/AR-15/AK-47 telling the thieves to freeze and not move an inch while your gf or whoever else in the apartment calls the cops.

All I'm asking is, if you guys know dick about alarms, those 2 pages provided above are a great site to read up and learn some stuff about alarms. Before I read those pages, I just thought of alarms as being annoying and didn't do anything, as I have a neighbor that just has the factory shock sensor on his alarm that sounded his alarm everytime I started my car or drove off or whatever. After reading those pages I have a much better understanding of alarms and how they work, and how they can work FOR you if you're smart in your installations.

^Yep, its all a game of chess. You have to be 3 steps ahead of them at all times. Add a stealth hidden LowJack as the last line of defense if they get through all other methods.

Lowjack really works eh? Wtf is it anyway? I have my vin etched into every window,a nice alarm system with 2 way paging, although the damn 2 wager pager remote broke, buts its loud enough when I'm at home...

Lowjack works off cell phone towers though doesn't it?

So if you're in an area with poor reception.. you might not find your car.

at least you'd know not to look in areas that have good reception...

Do you have any links to where I can order the 2-way page alarm along with those other gadgets you mentioned?

I think LoJack works by triangulation using 3 outfitted vehicles, usually police cars. The system tells you whether your cold or hot, and which car is closest.

Car hood sensor is a good idea. Or just set up your ecu for easy removal. Lots
of ways to foil a thief.

in the civic eg6 i had, i had the hood latch cable diverted to somewhere else under the dash. So whoever try to open my hood would have to put their head down and look for it for a while.

easy to pick because everybody and their mom can do it with same keys. all those hood pin keys come with the same key. i can just buy it off ebay and use that key to open it

couldnt you wire a sensor in with your alarm system? Check out compustar alarms, amazing stuff they have... remote paging, remote starts from 2 miles away...

You can buy a hood pin sensor, that will go off when your hood gets' popped.

Coupled with a 2-way paging system, you should recieve a notice on your reciever telling you that the hood sensor has been tripped, so hopefully you'll have the phone in 1 hand and a gun/bat/blunt object in the other while running out to your car when you see that your car's been tempered with.

you can just lower your car till you cant fit a hand between your rim/tire and fender...
