When i'm cruising in neutral, i hear a spinning/friction noise. noise stops when car comes to a stop. can somebody help me diagnose what that is?

if it happens all the time and sounds like a rotational noise that varies with speed, it could be your bearings...

sound is comin by the flywheel. i had the flywheel resurface and a new clutch and tob. did i install the tob wrong maybe? clutch engages and disengages fine. tranny shifts fine. just that noise when cruising. also, there is a whistling noise when in 3rd gear. is this something to be worried about? i'm in my break in period.

Bad input shaft bearings in your tranny can also do this...

damn...ok so i drove about 100mi on the highway yesterday and the sound got worse. it sounds like it's whining on acceleration. i could hear the turbo underneath this loud sound so that's not it. at idle, the spinning sound, (metal on metal sound) got louder. the spinning noise cruising on neutral is still there. does it sound more likely that it's a bad input shaft bearing?

Not to scare you but a few weeks after I started hearing a whiny noise my tranny went out. I found a nice 2" whole near the input shaft when I pulled my tranny out. I suggest checking your tranny fluid.

^I second the tranny fluid. my friend's car that showed the exact symptoms that you described. After he changed his transmission fluid (to mt90), the sound completely disappeared. Try it, the only thing you have to lose is 30 min, and $10 bucks of fluid.
