While looking for some items on yahoo auctions jp I came accross
this:
http://192.115.8.73/Images/tomei.jpg
http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f38262024
One things for sure, that design is new atleast to me.
A $390 price tag for a product from a reputable company like tomei
is a great price.

I'am not impressed by the design to be asked to pay 390 bucks for that dealy. It looks like it would be slightly better than the stock manifold

My Bad :hammer:
It is expreme and not extreme. I gess i cnt reeed ryte.
Sorry.
OK, so on the english version of their expreme line it is not listed
but on the Japanese, it does! I guess they do not want us non japanese speaking people to know about it.
Editing first post since it is legit.

Concidering full-race and other high quality manifolds are around 1K this
price is a great one if it proves to be a quality product with real performance gains.
wootwoot, the site provides information on why this design was chosen and shows other design features. It looks like they have the right Idea but I am no expert so if someone reads this and happends to be an expert please let us know what you think.

but i dont think it will preform as well as an equal length header. likt woot said...not impressed...it jus looks like the SUS answer to the cast manifold...but a few years late lol

But considering firing order etc.....
I mean its not like all of them fire at once which
would explain why you would need equal length. I am not saying the design is the best I am writing
what they ilustrate on the site. What about the devider in the middle?
Is that good or bad?
Explain why this is not good or as good as equal length.
Thanks.

I would honestly expect good results from the manifold and it seems to do exactly what they want it too after seeing what it is. A company such as Tomei will not just release a product with no research/development into it; they think. It seems like they were basically trying to improve upon the stock manifold. It basically is a tubular stock manifold if you really look at it. Power gains would be modest I'm sure with obviously less compared to Full-Race. I would expect an honest 10-15whp gain for say a 300whp car with no loss in throttle response/spool. This power estimate is ofcourse speculation and just trying to think the median between the top end manifolds and stock. I would definitely rather have this than a Megan/SSAC type manifold and would expect it to produce similar power levels to those "equal length tubular" manifolds. Basically they just wanted to improve upon stock and I kind of like it....haha. Its a quality mid price manifold that would be great for say drifting and track cars. First impressions, heh

ps.
It isnt as good as equal length because the exhaust gases will not have as smooth flow into the turbine making the power and will not have the "scavenging effect". I dont think they are claiming it is as good as a equal length, but just that equal length doesnt do what they wanted in a manifold. They were basically trying to make a median manifold, and now I kinda want one..........390 bucks eh?

Scavenging effect? doesnt that only apply to NA cars?
anyway........
ps.
and now I kinda want one..........390 bucks eh?
:hitit:
Actually hitting it now. those auction agents for YAJ are a blessing !!!!!

Naw, "scavenging" can happen in any exhaust system. The pulses being so smooth in a equal length and spaced so evenly the empty firing time almost provides a vacuum helping suck the next pulse through the system.

Go to their site...
this is why it is superior then equal lenth

How is it supperior if equal length will make more power?...Both designs do different things and are dependent on someones application for one or either to be considered "supperior"

i'm still confused of which one is better.... equal length or that one. hmm.. if tomei is really good... then which one should i get... the tomei or the full race?
which one is for which application?

Tomei would be looking to improve upon stock design.
Keep the faster spooling/response of the stock turbo manifold and gain some power OR get the Full-Race which will have slightly slower spool/reponse but much higher power potential.
Tomei=drifting/roadcourse/people concerned with spool
Full-Race= anyone who wants to make as much power as possible on a bottom mount manifold.

thats a hard one... i want power.... yet i want fast spool. was best for the gt2871r?
wootwoot
12-06-2005, 08:57 PM
do you want 400whp out of a gt2871r? If so you're going to need the Full-Race.
Full-Race is THE manifold pushing the envelope of t2 flanged turbos. A Tomei manifold and a gt2871r .64 would be absolutely amazing though. 400whp=almost pointless for street

tomei it is then... is it that hard to get 400whp out of a tomei?
and btw, where can i purchase this tomei?

depends on the .ar of your 2871r.... if you have the .86 ... it shouldnt matter. both would be able to make 400

If you're serious about getting the manifold, I can get this for you. You should've ordered this 3 wks ago since "some" shipment of my TOMEI LSDs are in.

We didn't get an email, did you get an automatic response email from our server?
