first off... since you have a SE, u SHOULD have 5lug so these wheels would not even fit. But if you somehow have 4lug then these will fit. 2nd... they will most likely look terrible on a 240 due to the offset of +40.... im no offset/flushness nazi, but it will definatelly look sunken
gotime242
12-02-2005, 06:59 AM
Thats just the advertising picture. I do have 5 lug, and would get 5-lug.
Also, i dont care much about the offset. Im not trying to look perfect here, im just looking for what you guys think of the face of the rim. Dont worry about fitment or anything like that, just think about the side profile shot of the car.
There are nasty 17x7's on there right now, with poor fitment, and thats not a big concern for me. Its just a daily driver, and always will be. So...what do you guys think about the face of the rim, on a gunmetal s14.

I like the design of the rim, not sure about the color of it, but the design is nice. Though, at least for me, the size and offset would put me off buying them. ever.

It's not that hard to find good offset wheels in 5 lug. You should definately look around. Sunken wheels look terrible, on any car.

12-02-2005, 10:31 AM
#1. I think you could find much better wheels.
#2. Do not post links to EGay on Zilvia.net.
#3. You really shouldn't look to others to make up YOUR mind about YOUR car. Who care's if anyone on here likes your car. Do you like it? That's all that really matters.

don't be too cheap. you just got in the game and RIGHT NOW you dont care about fitment.. give it a few months or maybe even weeks, you're gonna be wanting new wheels!
NemeGuero
12-02-2005, 10:48 AM
you'll have clearance issues if you upgrade brakes/coilovers running an offset as high as +40. Drop it to 12-20 and you will be much happier and everything will clear.

225/45's will look fine on a 17x7, and they are still within the recomended size. No worries about tire->pavement contact distortion, either. :)

2- Is Zilvia.net too good for ebay? Are you kidding me?
3- In the end i will make up my own decision, but sometimes people like to hear others opinions as well. Whats wrong with that?
If you guys *must* know i am a hardcore car guy, and i know my stuff.
Thank you.
Read the rules before posting and you will understand the ebay thing. Unless you're illiterate.. or just plain blind.
Everyone has an opinion and more often then not, they will conflict. And if you wanted opinions, take all of them. Even the ones you don't like! Otherwise, don't ask for them.
And if you're so hardcore and know your stuff so well, why ask a stupid question like.. "how would this look on my car?"
do some photoshop, or search for a car that HAS those rims..
You're welcome.

he's a hard core guy that drag races an mr2?
Do you drift a ford taurus and autocross a Jeep as well?
gotime242

Wow, way to stay civil people.
Can you not read? Did you not see the word autocross?
So just because i take it to the drag strip to get some real numbers...thats bad. lol, Do you bash everyone that takes there car to a strip? Or are you part of the crowd that stands around in parking lots saying "my car does this, my car does that" ...who actually is just a wana be "drifter" thats drives a pos hacked up 240 that is constantly running into things.
To everyone that had a decent opinion, (a simple...yes i like it/it would look good...or no), thank you for your input, it is much appreciated. To the select few that went off on their own topic about whatever....grow up.

What does being a hardcore car guy have anything to due with the simple curiosity of what other 240 owners might think? I guess you didnt read where i said i didnt care about fitment. Im not going to call you blind over it, but all am interested in is the look of the car vs the look of the spoke.
Stupid question? Looking through the topics pages i see tons of stupid questions...but THATS what a forum is for.
I did a search, no luck.

Well, its in the rules, thats fine with me. Im not being hostile at all here, i dont know how you guys think i am. Im trying to stay as civil as possible. And as i already said, opinions are great, comments that have nothing to due with the thread are worthless.

A simple yes or no is not a true opinion. A true opinion is formed from experience. An experience cannot be explained with yes or no, it requires a comment.

All i wanted was a simple yes or no, as to if you guys thought it might look good to the regular human being that doesnt care about wheels that are sucken an inch or so. 99% of the population will never know.
Thank you.
Not trying to an ass or anything (seems everytime I type something I get pinked...) but if you're concerned how these wheels willl look to 99% of the population why ask for the opinions of a bunch of obsessed 240 fanatics?
BTW, No they don't look good.

12-02-2005, 06:07 PM
no, they would not look good; especially on an s14...
i hate that universal shit...the rims that fit 5x114, 5x100, and 4x100...i like the rims that were made for one pcd and thats it...anything with more than 5 holes on a hub (besides the viper; i know you technical nazis) just looks cheap...
dont forget that offset is not all about looks...clearance is a big issue...plus if this is your biggest issue at hand (which it shouldnt be), there are plenty of other cheap and effective alternatives...dont settle on crap that your gonna wanna get rid of, but wont be able to sell...

You should just get some stock wheels off another car. Those RSLs and ADRs and all those other cheap "racing" wheels are gay.

12-02-2005, 10:05 PM
they'll look like ass man. don't waste your money on em.
the look of the face/spoke of the wheel itself is fine, but you're underestimating how much sizing is going affect the way it looks. its not going to be sunk by just an inch. i have run 17x7+40 wheels on a s14 before and believe me, it is NOT pretty. its going to be sunken about 50mm~2 inches from the fender.
if you want something that looks decent on stock suspension and wont break the bank, just get some used stock SE wheels. nobody can complain about the fitment because its stock, and they'll be much, MUCH lighter then some cheap 17x7s.
gotime242
12-02-2005, 10:06 PM
^ I do think they stock se 16's are a really nice wheel. Its just it seems like they are hard to come by sometimes, and pricey too. For about the same price, i could have a brand new, slightly bigger, possibly (?) lighter wheel.
Im not sure yet... i will shop around for stock se wheels though, thanks.
Edit: How much do the se wheels weigh anyway?

Omarius Maximus
12-03-2005, 05:08 AM
I bought 350z wheels for like 200 bucks off of ebay, staggered fitment, and half decent offsets. There was a guy in the for sale section selling SE wheels for 150 bucks, you can probably find 300zx tt wheels for the same price. I understand that this is a daily driver, but I think your just being lazy. Its not a matter of money, you just don't want to go through the effort of finding decent wheels. As for my opinion, those wheels suck ass.

It is true that i dont really want to find and deal with a person and their used wheels.
He runs those rims at the track? That's not a very good idea..
Lol, why would you say that? Do you think they are going to break?
He doesnt try to autocross or road race, just a drag strip out of curiosity...he only went once. 1.9 60fts on crappy 235/40 kumho 712's
NemeGuero
12-03-2005, 01:27 PM
I say that because they are made out of an aluminum alloy, not forged.. just regular plain old Al alloy. Aluminum isn't very resistant to dislocations due to the configuration of its crystalline microstructure. they won't break.. but they'll bend fairly easily.
gotime242
12-03-2005, 01:46 PM
Tons of people race everyday on alloy wheels...factory cars come with alloy, and people race on those. I have never in my life heard of drag racing bending rims with 12/13 second cars. Or road racing...or anything really for that matter, other than hitting something or running into a curb. The wheels on my mr2 are alloy, and they have seen tourture, and are still perfectly straight. You cant honestly say that you shouldnt race on anything but forged wheels, thats rediculous. Lol Thank you for your concern though.
NemeGuero
12-03-2005, 01:53 PM
No, but the factory rims are a heavier design. Alloys that have undergone thermal processes are going to cost more. There are several rims that DO spend the time/money to treat their aluminum alloy rims.. ADR is not one of those companies.
And why change rims? I think those that you have on look better than the original ones you wanted.
gotime242
12-03-2005, 02:06 PM
Yeah...i might not. I duno, like i said they dont look so bad with this color.
About the alloy thing....ill just agree to disagree. While yes, some are made better than others... I would be my life that in one million drag passes on any adr, or other cheap rim it will not bend them as you are saying. The stress needed to bend a rim is much, much greater than anything it will see when only the car and pavement are in play.

All I can say is, do it right the first time. THat's only if you're still buying a 17x7 rim.

240FaLKoN - You are one ignorant sob. Why the hell would i spend the money for perfect expensive rims that are 17x9 or what ever size i might get if this car is a slow automatic 240 that will never see any form of auto sport? Whats the point? To "look" cool at least...even though i will never actually require that much grip? That sounding borderline ricer if you ask me. Thats like telling you to get drag radials, even though you will never see the strip.
Too poor? Yeah...im sure thats a variable i forgot to mention. What a pathetic way to try to insult me. Trust me, if i wanted something better, they would be on the car already.
I see from your homepage your into that mesh shit...THAT is rediculous. No wonder you dont like my taste, its called being CLEAN.

Stop being a troll and ask for a lock. I hope you get pinked for the shit you were saying on the mesh thread. Even if your registration date is from 2 years ago, you're still a fucking troll, and a negative character on this board.
As for meshes. I got them because they look better than the sunk wheels I had on my car before, plus they're cheap. So we're not that different when it comes to buying wheels, except that I'm patient. I take my car to the track as well... but unfortunately I'm not rich enough to make horsepower so I'm all about suspension and improving my driving technique. Something you drag racers can't appreciate apparently.
