i own a 88 300zx na and and a 89 240sx coupe i like the 240sx better the 300zx you have to fix more often and the engine is crammed in there its hard to work on. also it is harder on gas and is heavy. the 240 is way smoother easier to work on better on gas and handles much better way more after market to.

well old Zs are nice but i think the looks of the 240s are better. Zs need alot of matenince and its just plain an older car. now
if u were talking Z32.........Z32s are allout sports cars....the 240 doesnt really compare.

get the 240. less problems, easier to work on and you can also get an SR later on.
If your gona go that old, get a 240z or 280z they look better than the old 300's IMO. None of those old cars have a lot of power stock though. An N/A 280z has about (maybe 10 more or so) horses than a DOHC s13. http://www.zcar.com and http://www.zhome.com have some good Z car info...

Dude you would end up putting more money into maintenance on a 300z.... all 240s are reliable

Really? I liked my old 300ZX better, and the engine never blew on my higher mileage Z (as hard as i tried) unlike my S13. I also like the Z's look better too, but thats all personal prefrence. Like I said before get what you want , not what the people you don't even now want.

shady, its called puctuation. USE IT! LOL, I would get the S13. I think that it looks better, and not as old. But, get what you think is best, dont just ask us what to get.

ur on a 240 board, most will say get the s13. I think it all depends on ur financial situation after th purchase. is this 5000 money ur just getting from parents, or money you saved. the z will be more of a project that requires money at all times. the 240 can be left alone for a while until you need it to be fixed (depending on the cars situation).

The Z's have some crazy torque. I drove my friend's 88' 300zx and that thing would just pull and pull. It redlined at like 5500, though. Just from driving, it felt faster than my 91' 240.

thanks for all the replies, the only reason i asked was to get personal experiences, and the positives, and negatives of both, and everyone pretty much answered all of my questions.
