With all due respect, as I was browsing the forum tonight, I noticed this post, http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=95559, which was closed by a moderator citing a previous post that was made. That post was this one, http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=91510.
Two things come to mind when bringing this up, which are the focus for the discussion. One is that there is no specific rule as to why any one person can or cannot represent/advertise/etc. another forum, especially since he/she are not selling anything. The other thing is that there are many people already doing that (linking to other forums) here. Look at the numerous signatures with links to other "Rival" (or so to speak) forums. Yes, most are not opening up threads just to discuss like this individual did, but the issue is the same no matter how you look at. Look at the post in the original thread, which was just previous to the moderator's own prior to the close. His sig contains a link to another set of forums.
If there is some unspoken set of rules like paying for a subscription will get your actions less moderated or alike, then please let it be known. Hypocrisy would show posters that the board shows signs of praetorian ways. The respect of the posters may continue to be more inclined to display signs of board insubordination and such.
Basically, if moderation is to be carried out, then maybe it should be carried out equally to all posters. If not, then updating the rules as stating something like, " At the moderators discretion, which can be based on thier own interpretation of any situation and with/without specific prejudice, may perform any action they deem necessary if they see fit", would make more sense and would have been more than enough reason for me not to have brought this up. And that should be the only rule, pretty much delineative of a Judge Dredd mentality, but in a forum relevance.
Any feedback would be appreciated. :)
