just ranting cuz im mad but glad but mad at the same time. I changed out my turbo a while back cuz it was puffing smoke then after putting it all back together i find out the oil feed line is leaking oil  Not only does it leak oil i broke one oif the exhaust mani bolts so i decided to upgrade to arp studs. After putting aside the leaking line i ordered taka lines and just finished installing them after about 5.5 hours. Right as i finish putting everything back together..... i torque a bolt too much and snap. I just snapped the (dunno what part it is but i think) turbo inlet bolt. The one that has 2 long bolts and 1 short bolt from the turbo to the intercooler. Snapped the long one and now i have to go get a replacement but 2m the stores are closed and im screwed.. well not really but shit i have to find a replacement which sucks. anyone have extras? /rant

PLUS i forgot to buy coolant... gayyyyy :duh:

I feel your pain, have had many a day like that...just have to take your time and not rush...I have freaked out on an install before and the water and oil lines just wouldnt line up and seat...spent like 2 hours fucking with the hard lines...got kicked out of the hobby shop since it was closing...came back the next morning and they plugged right up in 5 minutes....just was frustrated and rushing the night before...cheers and have a beer brother and thing of the money you are saving turning your wrenches yourself :p ........

after doing a motor swap/turbo upgrade on an sr in a 240, and doing a motor swap/turbo upgrade in Z32, and a turbo upgrade in a 03 gti, hands down the SR is the easiest motor to work on. the gti wasn't so bad, just sort of blind (turbo is in the back near the firewall) and the Z32 as many of you know is friggen insane. It's such a tight fit I have no idea how they crammed it all in there. Turbo bad? pull the motor...knock sensor bad? remove the entire upper plenum...ok im going off on a rant, in short SR's are easy to work on imho =]

RWD 4 bangers are the easiest to work on. So much space. The only thing I don't like about S13 SR is the stupid coolant line that runs behind the motor. So gay.

^what the fuck are you talking about? i didnt understand anything you wrote.

EnGlIsH MoThAFuKa Do U sPeAk iT. :ugh:

p.s. on topic, changing oil yesterday reminded me of how fucking drunk was the deepshit designing oil filter location and his lack of ability to understand that it needs maintainance once in a while. other than that sr is so easy to work on.

Depends what you are doing. Also with sr just more stuff to go wrong. But I do prefer direct ignition than frickin distributers

Change timing belt on a VG...id rather rebuild 3 SRs than do a timing belt on a VG30 :Ownedd:

i will post however i i feel like posting. if i think its logical and makes sense adn you dont. then i'm right and your wrong. u have a problem with it then pm me otherwise kiss it. thank you.

bak on topic.

ka-t rules. i say u get rid of the sr and go ka turbo. i have been thinking about it for months. but myu ca18 will stay here. maybe kat coupe or something in the near future.

and chains. i just hate the way chain motors sound. so rough and when they go badd they make the most horrible sounds. gring grind clinch cheek squeel and then the chain wears thruough the water jacket cover n outchie. so yeah belt for me.

so they say belt sucks? then who do 90% of japans super cars use them from factory

1(2)jz's
rb's
Vg's
i beleive subaru uses them on the ej20 and ej22
4ag' type engines use belt as well.

i did one at cardinale nissan where i use to work. took a meer 2 hours with removing harmonic balancer and pulleys, front cover and then redid the titming with a test run and retightening.

man i can vouch for the oil filter location! its always the worst part about changing the friggin oil! i usually end up with almost a cut trying to get agrip on that b!tch and twisting it o loosen it.

yeah, jon already changed his front main seal

chains don't break/snap. belts are used nowadays because they are easier to change

My KA timing chain was 234r235792357348954 times easier than my Z32 timing belt...

try working on a sr20de s14 motor, that you got out of the junk yard. yes it is easy to work on BUT parts are motha to find!!! i just found a S14 srDE harness and ecu but damn i had this engin for a year or so now it just pisses me off when i have to get a damn valve cover gasket for 50 bux from cali. i just wanted a ka... diid i say that out loud.. whoops. i mean it would be so stupid easier to work on.. thats just my 2 cents

NemeGuero
11-30-2005, 04:52 PM
Thats not how easy it is to work on.. thats convenience of part availability. 2 different topics, buddy.
Shoulda considered that before purchasing JDM tyte-ness. It's why I backed off from an RB25DET swap.

look at it this way it was only 315 for a new power house (ie tranny , altinator, p/steering, p/steering lines) and i know it would only have a small amount of miles comared to the ka24e's in the junker. so SR it is but lil did i know about the parts i had to fabracate :squintd: but the good thing is that people know me as that one guy with the SR20DE non turbo :aw:
