i need LSD....

i have a '96 240SX base model, i need an LSD, what kind should i get? should i try and look for a stock LSD at a junkyard? or should i buy an aftermarket one?  where can i find a good aftermarket one fro the best price?  help me out!  -thanks

oh yeah the faz and install info on 240sx.org is not quite correct.
Q45 VLSD diffs will not bolt in unless you change the flanges(5 bolt  versus the stock 240 6 bolt) and their gears are 3.92
J30 VLSD's 95 and up will bolt in and have 3.92 gears
M30 VLSD's will not work
Z32 (300zx) NA VSLD's have the same gears as our cars but you need to change the output flanges( see the note on Q45 flanges)
OUr cars have 4.08 gears

does anyone have any personal experience with the J30 diff.? cuz i was wondering what the drive would be like with the 3.92 gears....i kinda would liek to have slightly taller gears in my 240...hmmm.... also, how many miles do u have on that VLSD for sale? hopefully you wouldnt try to sell something thats all jacked up, right?  where are u located? maybe i can just pick it up instead of shipping...

none of the VLSD's I sell are jacked up. I get average to very clean ones. I would not sell one that did not work. also you really have to abuse them for them to be jacked up. I have sold them to several members on this forum.

drift freaq, what would be the effect on my 96 240 be with the 3.92 gear setup j30 vlsd. how would it run? i just don't know much about this.

Well, Rob the chef just put one in his S14 KA24DET car last week. he said it holds first gear about a second longer than before. He said the difference to him was minimal at most i.e. for those afraid of losing acceration due to the slight gearing difference you really do not notice it. For Turbo owners it helps. You have to remember all S14 SR20DET's and S15 SR20DET's came with 3.70 gears

I am here to say that the VLSD I bought from drift freaq was a very simple install, and it was in great shape when I recieved it. I am VERY happy with it! (Feels funny for a bit though, lots 'o traction!)

well i think i found someone that can get me a silvia LSD for a good price, and i liek the fact that it has a taller gear so i think im gona jump on it, ill tell you all how it goes...

OK i found the pumpkin for a '97 J30, are all J30's LSD or no??? all i need is the pumpkin right?  someone please help fast!

yes gotdrift it is VLSD and it will bolt into your car, go get it!
