Now I know that the main difference between a 96 and a 97-98 240 is the front end (lights/bumpers), and that for the most part the remaning exteriors remained the same all those years. BUT what I dont know is, is there a difference in the interiors of the cars? Any styling differences? Dash, DINS, Speed Cluster, etc? I'm mainly trying to determine the styling differences between the 96 and the 97-98. Anyone know? Thanks for all help in advance.

p.s.-as with all my newbie posts, if this has been discussed before just direct me to the thread.  no need to get your panties in a knot.

Don't worry about asking newbie questions. It's not like everyone's born with the knowledge already.

Anyway, as far as I know, the front end is the only difference between the s14 Zenkie (95-96) and the Kouki (97-98). I'm not sure if there were any differences as far as options go, but if there were, then I can't remember them.

as far as i know the only difference is the front bumper and headlights.  the 97-98 SE version also come with sideskirts. there is also a slight difference with the gauge clusters. the 95-96 speedometer and tach slightly overlap eachother, and i believe in the 97-98 the speedometer and tach are perfectly round.

Also the 97-98 hasa a carbon fiber look around the dash.

i have a 98, the guages don't overlap, and the material isn't carbon fiber looking, it's just a textured plastic or rubber or something, it's a decent little detail

if you plan on heavy modifications, get the 95-96, they are so much cheaper for effectively the same car

The S14a (kouki) also has different tail lights with a gunmetal Nissan logo, the font for the rear badges is different, the center console looks the same but apparently has different fastener points, and no lumbar support lever on driver's seat.

as tnord and others said, the only differences are mostly cosmetic, but the 95-96 SE had sideskirts as well. &nbsp; The gauges between years are the same (base-base and SE-SE). &nbsp; Not sure about the mouldings tho. &nbsp; The SE had a swirl type thing on the doors on my friends 97...dont know if its the same for the 95-96. &nbsp;I know my 96 base is two color seats where as Ace's are one color. &nbsp;I like mine better &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>

Thanks for all the replies. &nbsp;I have big plans for the 240, which include an s15 conversion. &nbsp; So the entire front end doesnt matter. &nbsp;I am however curious if there will be a big enough difference between zenkie and kouki to actually warrant me getting one or the other. &nbsp;Judging from your replies, it seems there isn't need to get a kouki. &nbsp; Thanks &nbsp;again

he said that the 95-96 overlap not the 97-98, and to sum1 else they do. The speedometer is a full circle, the tach is cut out where the speedometer overlaps. 97-98 are just two full circles.

Also the tailights for a 97-98 have like horizontal lines (i think).

Yeah, the '97-'98 have a horizontally "ribbed" tail light and center panel assembly whereas the '95-'96 is smooth/flat. It seems like everyone else's pretty much summed the differences up.

Would the 97-98 rear brake light assemblies fit on a 96? &nbsp;Just curious. &nbsp;Oh and also are there Jspec versions of the rear lights or are they the same everywhere?

The consoles are basically the same in terms of design and attachment. &nbsp; The differences are the plastic is a little harder, the latch on the console is different (Kouki is more positive feeling), and the cubby/drink holder has slots and a divider to separate the two stepped areas (on Kouki). &nbsp; Also, the a/c vents are shaped a bit differently. &nbsp; The other thing I can think of is that the Zenki came w/ a factory front lip and the Kouki didn't.
