what's up w/ the attitude on the board

I came to this forum because I always think everyone is well informed and very helpful.
But recently there has been some serious animosity towards misinformed posts or misplaced posts. On the real some members are taking this shit way way too seriously. Some stuff you all should let slide by and inform not chastise those who don't know every single rule and nuance of the board. This is the first forum that I have ever been a member of and that is because I love 240s. How about we embrase new members (small violin begins to play) and not flame them. My goodness! some members are just being flat out rude to other members (some do deserve it) but the others should just be corrected and we can all move on w/ our lives. In a misplaced post in FAQ all that was needed was a simple answer and then one of the moderators could just move the damn post w/o making the poor guy feel like complete shit.

Hey I have no problem w/ the board but I feel that there is a lot of alienating going on w/ this "holyer than thou" attitude that some people have

I disagree with that. I'd consider a lot of the members of this board friends, and i'm sure i'm not alone in that. Just because you don't meet someone face to face doesn't mean that you don't know them, or that interaction with them doesn't affect you at all.

I know what's being said about attitude, but it seemed to me that things were actually getting quite a bit better again. Are there any posts in particular that you're referring to?

I agree 100%, flaming just pisses people off. Unfortunately, with a board of this size, you're bound to get people that are just going to be dicks sometimes. I guess the best thing to do is just don't bother replying to flames, and if it's really bad, report it to a moderator. If no-one replies do the flame, then you don't start a flame war.

That's an important thing that I realized a couple months back. &nbsp;Since then, I've tried to answer the same old questions (at least until the seach and FAQ are sufficient references).

On the other hand, I tend to be a bit of a forum vigilante (along w/ Travis and Ace (WTF is your name Ace?)). &nbsp;I think the hard line that we are all walking is how to not be FA AND how not to be ClubSI. &nbsp;But even the vigilantes are tremendously helpful when you work with us. &nbsp;Be a dick, receive a flaming. &nbsp;That is "I read SCC, now I'm getting a Silvia" nubie control in a nutshell. &nbsp;

Since the original post was somewhat directed at me let me give you my 2 pennies.

Yes people are going to get out of hand sometime, its a online community. Of course there will be people who get offended by some things while others think its fine. I don't agree with people who bash new members for any reason. I find it funny how this topic gets brought up every week now. If you have a beef with one of us Admins or Mods then take it up with us, Were always have open ears to what everyone has to say, but there is no reason to bring it up publicly. We (Admins and Mods) have to keep the forum organized and clean of content that shouldn't be here. Sorry if its our responsibility to make judgment on what should be moved or deleted. If you have something moved or deleted then don't get upset, its just a post... your ego will remain the same, so please don't bitch to EVERYONE about whatever beefs you may have.

I don't see how you can say some of the members have a "holier than thou" attitude. I know there will be members how give their opinions on just about everything, but if you open your mouth with an opinion then expect one back, positive or negative. That's life.

As for the post you are referring to, ill apologize, I know I made a remark that wasn't like "I'm sorry but you posted this in the FAQs Section, will you please post questions in the Chat section from now on. Thanks!". But sorry were human too and have bad days, I'm not going to act fake with a kiss ass attitude just to make sure I don't hurt a single persons feelings.

We all do need to Chill, and that means everyone, me incuded, but everyone cant please everyone.

But on a last note, I do agree with you. If you have ever been a Admin or Mod of a forum with this many members then you might understand where we come from. We aren't being assholes, were just doing our jobs. A Job where we don't get paid... so before you go bashing us remember were doing this because we share common interests in the 240sx and we devote our spare time to keep it going.
