First off how does it work? I know you need to run around the same times but I'm not real sure.
Another question. When you switch to 2nd gear. Is it faster to spin the tires or try to hit it as fast as possible with-out losing traction? How do you all do it when on the track?

Bracket racing is based off previous runs.
example:
you run a 14 1/4
car next to you runs a 9 1/4
5 seconds after your light turns green, the car next to you's light will turn green.
It is never good to spin your tires, but a chirp IMO is always a welcome sound.

So you must run the 14 1/4 for the entire time you run that day. right?

you right your "dial in" on your car. So if you can consistenly run a 14.0, you would dial in at 14.0. If you run faster than that, it's called "breaking out" and you automatically lose. Basically, whether you win or lose at bracket racing is dependent on reaction time and how close you can get to your dial in without going faster.
