View Full Version : KA #5 or VG swap? pros and cons
I really haven't been that hard on my engines but #4 (a rebuild of #3) now has oil in the water and water in the oil. I'm trying to decide whether to replace the KA with a low milage salvage and build it up or just cut out the 1st 150-200HP's of my journey by doing the VGTT swap. I know about the new hood and custom drive shaft, but any other suggestions you can make would be appreciated.

Get a JDM spec vg30dett. Thats my only suggestion.

Anyways, why would you get a JDM TT motor? Don't US spec make 300 or 310, and JDM make 280 (because of the limit)? US would be cheaper and easier to get too...
I got a price from the local Nissan tech heads/speed shop. The guy wants to do it, and he has a wrecked tt that he'll sell me the whole thing for $4K. But, his rough estimate for install of engine, custom exhaust, customized front mount intercooler adapted from an sr conversion and four wheel break swap is another $6K. I'm just not ready to put $10K in a 10 year old car that I can't insure and then I would want to do another $10k in suspension and interior mods. It's just too much money right now.
