exhaust dilema...gp sports

hey guys, im currently going throught a dilema.

i've had the GP sports spec R exhaust for a while now. at first, i loved the sound. but then i realized i couldn't even talk to the passenger without going into neutral. i decided to get a resonator put in, which did help alot, i could know scream at my passenger. its a 3" cat back, and i still have a KA , so you could imagine.

my dilema is im trying to get is more quiet. the guy at the shop recommended that i should get 2.5" piping, since I AM loosing alot of back pressure. really dont wanna chop up a $600 dollar exhaust. you guy have any reccommendations?

Sounds Gay but why don't you put the silencers on maybe you'll still hear a deep tone even though they restrict that lound sound. :bigok:

it doesnt have anything to do with piping dia...well, yeah, it does, but not as much as you or your exhaust guy thinks...its mostly baffle design...the blitz has the same specs as every other company, but why is blitz known to be one of the loudest, "love it or hate it" sounding exhaust? its the way blitz designed and packed their silencers...i say keep it...ideally, you want zero backpressure...its the lost in scavenging that is the biggest worry when going 3"...

i had a greddy exhaust b4, and it had a small resonator, and an extra magna flow looking muffler. i believe if i install something like this in there, it would be quiet, but would sound like shit. here's a pic.

loosing backpressure is good. you want zero backpressure. too big exhausts like 4" CAUSE backpressure, they dont decrease it. and man up, dont be a pussy, turn up your stereo and talk loud.

but the thing is, i lost a significant amount of torque. and i seriously think this is damaging my ears. haha. i cant hear shit my professors say.

due to loss of scavenging, not backpressure...id just sell the gp, and get a 65mm hi power if your so concerned with noise...surprised you havent gotten a fix it yet with that thing...

theres no need for back pressure on a 2.4 liter. It is a fuckin myth. only maybe if 240's came with 2 cycle engines......

and yea, man up and talk louder. i got rsr gt2 with sr and it gets real deep and loud but you can still hold a conversation

If I have to explain about exhaust velocity one more time I'm going to break something. Probably wind but it's something. Are magazines still saying that you need backpressure?

Word. That's what I wanna hear! I was scared when I got hassled by cops before, I normally clutch in when I pass by a cop... Just do that, and you'll be good man. If they DO end up hassling you about it, tell them it's legal smog wise, and if it's too loud, just tell them you'll take it off.

The spent exhaust gasses pull out other gasses and with some cam overlap pull in fresh A/F mixture.

sorry guys, no sound clip...my camera broke at DD norcal. no idea how, but yea. im just gonna stick it up until i get a turbo.. =)

but i think auto Rnd might have taken some sound clips when i put it on there. cause i was the first to put on the Gp sports spec R, so they took some pics and (sound maybe) for example for others who requested pics in the groupbuy.

just imagine it rattles alot of shit anywhere above 2500 rpm

The Exas spec R doesnt get much quieter with a turbo either. Mines loud as fuck but I love it.
