Put your S14 diff cover on the s13 diff. Next time do a search.

do you have ABS? does the vsld have ABS? if yes and yes, you can use your stock driveshaft and just swap the diff cover to bolt it in. An ABS driveshaft is about an inch shorter due to the extra length in the diff for the ABS sensor.

You will need the axles and the rear diff cover for the install. All you would need to do is take your S14 rear diff cover and slap that on the S13 VLSD pumpkin. Once you have done that you can put the diff in your S14. The axles will spline in your rear hubs and there should be 6 nut and bolts on each side to secure your axles to the side shafts.

I didn't like your initial 2nd post, but since you editted it, it'll be as if nothing happened.
S-chassis pumpkins are pretty much the same, housing R200 guts IIRC. you'd just have to swap out the simple case cover, and BAM, done.
Make sure there isn't crazy backlash, or else. Clean it up, do it right the first time, etc etc etc. I personally think those S14 bushies make more noise than compared to the solid mounts of the S13s. Then again, maybe thats just me.

what are some common things that people mess up when doing this?

using the incorrect shims upon installation, incorrect shafts on the incorrect side (some people actually can't notice the difference), and uncorrected backlashing. MAKE SURE the ring gear's teeth match up accordingly on the (technical name for the gear coming from the driveshaft) gear. If not, it'll grind. Like Michael Jackson to Macaulay Culkin. On a more serious note, WHO THE HELL names their kid Macaulay?

Not if they're both 6bolt, idiot.
