s13 is the 89-94 USDM 240SX
s14 is the 95-98 USDM 240SX
s15 is the 99+ JDM Silvia

Yes you can do the swap, as long as you have a boatload of money!

I am new to this board so I will post my question here since it seems to be a newbie question.....what is the difference between the fastback and coupe? I'm looking for a 89-91...maybe even a 92.

Fastback is nothing but a cool name for a hatchback. Coupe has a trunk.

S=Chassis Code. All 240sx's, 200sx's (euro), Silvias, and 180sx's where S chassis cars.

The dates above are correct except the S13 was also built until 98' as the 180sx in Japan. (fastback)

Thats exaclty what the RPS13 is. Im not sure about the PS13. The PS13 is the 180 or Silvia,(not too sure on this one) with the other type of engine. I cant remember the name right now, RB26 or something? Or isnt that the Skylines engine? I dont know, but the RPS13 is the 180 for 100% sure.

the chassis codes go like this:
s13 = early silvia (with ca18)
rs13 = early 180sx (with ca18)
ps13 = later silvia (with sr20)
rps13 = later 180sx (with sr20)

I've also seen S13's refered to as Q's and S14's as K's. What's up with that?

S13 and S14 cars had 3 trim levels (or so) J, Q and K -- Jack Queen and King trim levels. It's pretty self-explanatory... Jacks had nothing. SR20DE engine no power anything. Q's had the SR20DE with power windows and a couple of goodies (?) and Kings were the full on, SR20DET, power-everything models.

Or something like that.

Did this only apply to S13s? I don't actually recall any Jack's S14s... they (S14s) may only have been a Q or K choice.

But you get the idea.

The J's,q's,K's also apply to the CA18 engine. The S15 doesn't come in q,j,or k. They either come spec s(na) or spec r(turbo)
