Red Top or Black Top?

Umm what is the diffrence between the sr20det black top and red top? I have no idea

do you want the black top from the type-x 180sx or the black tops from the silvia s-14 /s-15...i have a silvia s-14 cwith the black top sr20det and i like it better than my red top sileighty sr20det....it all depends on what you want to do with your car also....

spicy chicken, how does the blacktop SR "feel" compared to the redtop? is it worth the extra grand for a swap to have the variable timing and t28 ball bearing turbo? i'm having the swap done in two months and i need to make up my mind quick.

I would like to know myself. &nbsp;I want to know if I made the right decision w/ the redtop I plan on upgrading my turbo to a t28 later on to get more life

This is my experiance from owning both. I love my Black top a lot better than the red top. The feel is different when you take off in higher gears. I will be going down the Highway with my Blacktop in 5th punch it and it will put my head into the seat. I do the same thing with the redtop and it is just slightly different. I have so far put a black top T28 on the red top (I got it for $200) and I have the same boost controller for both. as you know the Blacktop is more powerful but the weight makes up for the difference but not by much. I suggest you get a blacktop just for the fact it is a little newer than the red top. I am boosting 1.0Kg/cm2 with no problem no detonation no leaning out &nbsp;with the black top. what did you do? put a S14 turbo on your wife's car? &nbsp;I like the redtop myself because I didn't have a blacktop. &nbsp;Plus I just take the price difference and dump it into parts to upgrade the engine. &nbsp;Unless you have injectors from a S15 I wouldn't boost too high in a sr20. &nbsp;You're injectors are running close to 100 percent capacity and when they fail........You remember what happened to Mario's engine. &nbsp;Anyway I took the engine apart and there was a hole on top of the piston about the size of a 100yen coin and and the walls weren't too pretty either.

yeah, i agree with junia. &nbsp;if you take the price difference and add upgrades you will have a better off engine than a stock black top from and s14. &nbsp;that is what i plan to do and it should kick major ass.
