I know this seems like an odd question, but the rainy season is coming up: Buying new washers, rain x-ing my windshield, checking all my weather stripping etc.

But I was wondering if you guys had read anything about a performance rain tire? Something with good tread wear that will last me through the winter (rain since it NEVER snows in the bay.)

The reason I'm concerned is because I am running welded diff, and I'd like to avoid as many hazards as I can, IE running ST115 in the rain:eek3d: . . .LOL.

Any INPUT (not flames or any of that bullshit) would be appreciated. Thanks.

ive never used rain x...but when i used to wax my cars with eagle's wax-as-u-dry...the wax would absorb into the chamois and i would just dry all the windows with the leftover...water still beads on all the windows and i havent washed any of my cars for almost a year and some change...

i dont keep up with weather reports, but is rainy season coming already? or was scott scurred of the drizzley evening we had yesterday...dont we have a late summer this year?

reading back the post... I am too lazy to take out my diff and swap in the VLSD... I am thinking going welded diff - that would be fun when the winter comes...

STOP!!! dont use rain x...its the worst thing you can do too your car. yes it works good for about the first 2-3 weeks. Then the nightmare begins. it gets stuck to your windshild wipers and smudges the living shit out of your windshield. I had to contact rainx hotline to figure out how to get that shit off. turns out your have to buy a special wool cloth or someting because nothing gets it off. i tried washing my car about 5-6 times, using steel wool, rubing alcohol...rainx is immune to everything.

I am telling you... AQUAPEL is the shit... I am using it on my cracked windshield - been on there for 2 months now - works very well. Hwy speed - you don't need wipers much at all...

aquapel - you can get it at tirerack. 10 bucks last 6 months, not a bad investment.

Aquapel will be sold in CVS stores soon... I have to check with some friends within the company.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. excellent tire in the rain, i have personally used them last year and they performed just as good when they were at 2/32nds as they did when they were at 11/32nds. If you are looking for the best rain tire that will still perform respectably in the dry this is the tire i would get ;)

scott, here is what i did ALL last rainy season. Use BALD ASS tires, that in combination with a welded diff = under AND oversteer city. so just be a man and drive slower when you can understeer and crash. and drive faster when you can oversteer and slide for hours. haha.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is a great tire. Its a great tire for dry conditions and excelent in the rain. I evan ran it in snow and it performed very well. I'd also consider the new Michelin PS2 if it comes in your size. For the money I will buy the Goodyear again.

I have the yokohama AVID H4s/V4s tires on my car. They are great in the rain. I have had them on the car all of last season. With my old tires i could start at a light and the rtears would just spin now they dont spin but for a second.
