How many of you out there do it? I just got into it recently. I searched around for the best sites to play. I play lowlimit blackjack. The minimum bet is 10 cents, and max is 300 dollars. I usually play 1 dollar minimum hands. Playing with strategy, it's really hard to lose. I'm practicing for Vegas on friday. So far it's looking good. Here's the site i play on

Anybody hear about the $1 million dollar freeroll at paradisepoker? Gotta qualify for it by placing in another freeroll though, 1-30th. I came in 54th :(

Hey Varmint,

I'm getting into Yahoo Blackjack and I wanted to know what your strategies are. I've tried card counting for a few hours on a single deck, but it's very frustrating sometimes (like it doesn't work, or takes too long to work).

I wouldnt try to count cards online..explanation later in this post. basically it's nice to have a 1:200 min/max bet ratio. You play by basic blackjack strategy and double up evey time you lose. It takes a long time to win money this way and it does get pretty intense sometimes but when you stick to strategy it usually pays off. If course it's not gauranteed, or else it wouldnt be called gambling.

Let's say your min bet is 5 dollars, then you want your max to be at least 1000 dollars. This way you can double up several times. You also want your bankroll to be about 1.5 times your max bet. Dont sit down with a small bankroll or you'll probably lose. And also set a max wining limit, like 200 dollars and force yourself to quit afterwards.

If you lose, double up. with a 5 dollar min bet, this is how it would go

5, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320, 640, 1000

You'd have to lose 8 hands in a row (unlikely but very possible) to get to your max bet on the 9th hand, at which point even if you won with the 1000 dollar bet, you wouln't break even. At any point before you reach max bet, if you win the hand, you break even plus profit 5 dollars(or whatever your original bet was) The reason your bankroll should be more than the max bet is because you're losing money as you're playing. When you get to the 640 bet, you've already lost 315 dollars plus you put in 640, which makes 955 dollars . If you started with a 1000 dollar bankroll and you lost the 640 bet, you wouldnt be able to do anything but walk away. Also when you win a hand, your bet should go back down to 5 dollars again. And start over. Slow and steady wins the race.

I sat down with 350 dollars in Vegas and lost because i couldnt double up more than 5 times. Then i had to sit there with a bigger bankroll and win it back slowly. Every next hand you can afford to play decreases the likelyhood of losing. There are only so many hands you will lose in a row, but sometimes you just have bad luck and you can lose 20 hands in a row and it would take you forever to come back. It just takes balls and the bankroll to keep doubling up. Very important *you have to not care about the money you're gambling with*

Some people say single deck online sucks cause a lot of online casinos will shuffle the deck after every single hand, which makes single deck useless. Even more random than a 6 deck game. 6 deck games usually get shuffled about halfway through the deck. You can somewhat judge the probability of high/low cards by keeping an eye out, but again..there might be 10 high cards lined up in a row considering there are 96 cards with a numerical value of 10 in 6 decks. That's why counting is somewhat useless. It's ok to keep a loose count in your head and pay attention to what came out recently. It's all about probability. If you play by the book, it doesnt matter what you've counted.

Playing in real casinos is better. The dealer usually helps you out, and you get hammered for free cause they keep bringing you drinks. Online places are super shady and sneaky. They change the min/max spread once you register and start playing for real. I dont think i will end up playing for real money online after what i've seen.
