ok guys... most of us are happy after we put in our SS kit cuz it is abt 35-45% shorter than stock.... however it is still fucking long compared to other cars, and please do not kid yourself about NIssan's design of the shifter...
ok... what i want to do is to mod the OBX SS kit... to reduce the throw some more i am thinking about cutting the shaft.... have anyone done this to the OBX shifter? is so where did u cut?
does anyone have an opinion about this?

Ok, i did a post about this a while back 'cause i shortened my pilot (same thing). I cut it down about 1.5" with my dremel.

If you really want to reduce the throw distance the right way, you would have to cut out a section of the shifter between the pivoting ball and the tranny link connection, then re-weld it together. Not an easy project. But that would truly reduce throw length. But as the others said, you could just cut off some length from the top and it will 'feel' shorter.
I'm speaking from a Honda shifter standpoint, but I'm pretty sure the engineering design is the same. Someone correct me if the 240 shifter is of a different design. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/eh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':eh:'>

Actually, you'd have to lengthen the tranny-ball joint section, then space up from the tranny to pick up the ball joint. Now that is a lot of work.
Or, just cut off about 1 1/2". They both do EXACTLY the same thing except that option #2 also makes it physically shorter which some like and others don't.
