okay was parking today... and as i was putting it into park.. i couldnt get it in.. it stops in reverse... every gear still engages fine and runs fine, but feels like a lock preventing me from pushing it into park. i dont want to try and force it up cause i know i will probably break something, i thought it might be that shift lock crap.. so i push that little button, so see if it would even do anything.. but still couldnt get it in... so now im parking in neutral with handbrake on... anybody have an idea for a temporary fix? cause im already planning on the 5 spd swap, already got the tranny sitting in my backyard.. just gotta collect everything else. and as a side question, ive searched and searched and read a million write ups.. do i need the whole MT driveshaft or just part of it? cause some say part of diveshaft and some just say driveshaft... thats the only part ive been confused on.. thanks
91 ka hatch btw

seems like you already found it...if you are doing a manual swap then there's no point in spending money to fix something your gonna replace.
parking in neutral with the handbrake on is what your gonna do in a manual car so what would be the difference if you do it now while your still auto?

Hey,
Go the the tech link (http://www.zilvia.net/faqs/faqs.asp) on the top banner and download the CA18DET S13 service manuel. I know it's a different engine than yours but don't worry most of the stuff are all the same. When you open it up in Adobe reader go to page 310 (AT-9) and it will show you how you can easily adjust the linkage. That normally causes the jam. If this doesn't work go to page 312 (AT-11) and it gives you some other diagnosis procedures for similar problems, you should find your problem in their with a little reading.
