im thinking of putting on a cf hood on my car. now wat i dont want is to drill the cf hood to put in those hood locking things (i forget the name). anyway is it necessary to use them? i was told that failure to use them will result in the hood flying up at ur windshield while going at high speed.

Yea alot of people with cf hoods use hood pins. The only reason why people dont trust the latch is because cf hoods flex alot and with all the flexing the latch can just let go of the hook and booom the hood is in your face....its not a good feeling when it comes up trust me. My advice is use hoodpins with cf hoods...if your not comfortable with drilling holes let a body shop do it so you have someone to blame. Or if you just dont want it cuz of looks wise take a chance..

I have the VIS OEM C/F hood and i never put hood pins in it becuase they look gayer than the 240 on pimp my ride (and that is GAY!!). Just make sure it latches/locks securely.

i've had my cf hood for 2 years...i installed hood pins...only for the fact that the hood latch that came w/ the hood looks like crap, that and the flexing when driving. The last thing you want is the shell and the hood splitting apart when driving, seen it happen and it sucks...learn from others.

use hood pins. cf hoods flex especially when whipping your car around. who care if they "look gay" paint them black and get over it. its part of the game. if you wanna bitch that the cf look is "played out" then just paint the cf hood black. then you have a lighter car and can sleep better at night.

Anodize or powdercoat the hoodpins black, you'll never notice them.

Yes use them, or else you'll have to get your roof bonded and sealed like me (no more sunroof). Also, if you want to get a high perfomance carbon fiber hood (not the cheesy cf overlay/fiberglass) a user on the forum is developing a dry cf honey comb design that weighs bout 6 pounds.

i was in the same boat as you were. I drove around without hood locks and i just watched my hood bounce around. So i bought the morsco quickrelease hood locks instead of the huge fancy one everyone else has. Now the hood is perfectly secured. Safty first.

anyone know if those hood pins that are also locks, will actually "lock" your hood so its hard as hell to open it?

might be usefull to people who have a lot of money under there...
