I have this annoying creaking noise coming from my left rear spring, and I can't figure out why. I can grab the spring itself and just by moving it up/down it will creak just like when I am driving. Is it possible the spring is bad? I was under the assumption that these don't really go bad...they are made of steel I believe. Also, it's the stock spring, not aftermarket. Thanks

you have to refrigirate them after use.....
they do sag after a while though.

Yeah but would they "break" enough to the point that it would crack or something and make a creaking noise? It's that or the spring is rubbing on something else in there that is metal, and I can't figure out what.

Nah, shocks are only a few thousand miles old..I know what blown shocks feel/sound like. The car's feel is fine, it just squeeks and is audible at low speeds or if I push down on the spring or car by hand.

I don't know what year your car is, but it is at least 7 years old and at most 16 years old, I would think that this amount of time, mileage and wear/tear will present some form of aging to ANYTHING on the car, if not everything...The squeak, as previously mentioned, is more than likely related to the shocks...
Pesonally, I would, if I were in your shoes, see this as an excuse to go ahead and get aftermarket springs/shocks, if not coilovers.

The shocks are fine, I'm just trying to figure out if the springs themselves can actually go bad, or if it's more likely that the spring is rubbing on something.
