on friday i went to a cruise night. at the one end of the strip the turn around point is a McDonalds. past experence showed it to be safe to smoke tires. so this time i deceided to roast 'em. i know this was stupid and dangerous but testosturone was pumpin. anyway, i got a $270 ticket and maybe loose my license. the cop didn't have me sign the ticket and as far as i know, no on duty cop saw me doing it. however they got me on tape. any input onto how to avoid points and fines would be greatly welcomed. thanks, adam
p.s. i live in PA.

If you didn't sign the ticket, it should be null/void. That is your agreement to appear on/by your court date. You might look in to it.
If they got you on tape doing that, and you try to fight it, the cop will present the tape and you will get beat. Maybe you could talk with the DA to get the charge reduced because this will change how many points you may/may not receive.
Also, were you given a ticket for "exhibition of speed" or "reckless driving". Either would apply in this case depending on the burnout, location, how many people around and so on. If you got exhibition of speed, the charge should be a lesser one resulting in fewer points.
Anyhow, look in to exactly what you were cited for, then find the best way to get it reduced or thrown out. It is likely though that you will get hit somehow on this one.

I guess you could stop doing stupid things, and that will help you keep your license! Or, depending on what your state laws are, you can fight it. In FL, you do not have to appear in court for anything. But if you do, they will summon the cop that gave you the citation. About 80% of the time, for small speeding tickets, seat belt violations, ect, the cop wont show up, and you have now won.
How big was the burnout? Was it a smoky pile of smouldering rubber, or a shorter chirping for a couple seconds? What is you driving record like? Have you been in trouble for this before?
If you answered: Short, clean, and no, you can play stupid. I'm guessing you are under 21, and probably live with your parents. Most young people have their car in their parents names to get cheaper insurance. If this is the case, you can say you barely know how to drive the car since its manual, and it was a total accident. Or, there was something wrong with your car, it was sputtering, and you gave it some gas to aviod stalling. Then the tires broke traction.
Many possibilities!

the burnout lasted for about 15-20 sec. and caused pretty low visability. as for my record, i now have 7 points after taking the 6 point exam for speed ing, i did have 9. i have never gotten a ticket for this before, just speeding. i wasent in the county i live in and the cop didn't explain the ticket to me like they usually do either. i plan on talking to a lawyer or a state rep. to see what i can do. i thought of telling them that the throttel got jamed and i didn't know what to do. hopefully i can control my right foot and only take out the 240 on the weekends, then after summer i can get sr20 power ! thanks again.
