Hey tonight on my way home my 1990 240 with red top SR20DET started stuttering when I gave it gas. Like I'd just be going and when I went to hit the gas it was like it was cutting out? What could this be? Im thinking maybe clogged fuel filter? It still has the stock fuel pump so I was thinking it may be that? But the car is only on 7lbs and only mod is full 3" exhaust. This is the only time car has given me any trouble since I got it running. Also when I got it home it was in my drive way and it was idleling really low. I dont know how low because I dont have a tach but it was definately lower and sounded like it wanted to die, but didn't die. and when I tried to rev it a little it was stuttering and wouldn't rev up. I just shut the car off and went inside because it was late and nothing I could do then. What do you think it is? If I don't get a reply im gonna try to replace the fuel filter tomorrow before work, hopefully thats it. Don't know what else it could be? Someone please help because my car is sold and the person is coming to get it in like 2weeks. So want to figure out what the hell is wrong. Maybe its the plugs? I dunno. someone PLEASE help :(

I dunno, I checked all the pipes(I have hard intercooler piping) and where the cold pipe goes into the intake right under that there was a little metal thing, with a metal male end stickign out of it. When you revved it it started sucking in air, I plugged that hole and car seems to run fine now. Could that honestly have been it?

that would be a vaccuum nipple and very crucial to a good idle.

So plugging it was the right thing to do? The car runs fine now. I dunno whats up, all I did was plug that hole because I seen it goes up into the intercooler piping.

I was driving with mines unplugged for a while and it idled fine. I had the same problem but it was with the hose going into my BOV. Car was stuttering erratic idle and everything. Turned out to be a ripped hose.
