What are you ka-t guys using to control your timing. Im planning a t04 setup with an safc, 370cc's, 38mm Tial, FMIC, walbro (no FPR). i was thinking about getting a MSD BTM, but i have an s14 and the "word on the street" is that the BTM dosent work with the s14 for some wi3rd reason. This is gonna be my daily driver so i need some it to run good in off boost. Also, i hear the cobra maf helps ka-t's run better... how so? I also don't plan on recricing my bov... Im planning on running 7psi daily and 10psi for track days.

oh yeah, one more question... how can i improve when my car reaches full boost. from what ive been reading, the t04 dosent reach full boost until ~3.8. I hear if you use a smaller cold pipe/hot pipe you spool faster. i would like to reach full boost by 3.5 if at all possible.

thanks in advanced!

1) BTM's work when your ECU isnt in the knock map but work fine in the standard map. Search around ka-t.org.

2)Buy a z32 maf, the cobra one requires a re-tuned ecu like jwt where the z32 can be controlled by a safc or emanage. You also need to run a blow-thru maf if you plan on not recirc.

3)It depends on the trim of the wheel and the size of the exhaust housing.

how do i know if my ecu is in the knock map sensor?

You don't really. It depends where you are at on your load vs. rpm.

I think a ROM tune would be best for you.

jon, the knock thing is just a trick your car does to increase power when it`s under heavy load (say, four passengers + cargo, long uphill, starting to bog...) by adjusting timing to the point of slight knocking. Afaik, it`s impossible to control, your only option is to get rid of it. The guy above me makes it sound like a reprogramming of your ecu is capable of it, otherwise, I think a standalone would be your only option.

btw, your KA-T ideas sound similar to mine, except iWant a teeny tiny turbo that`ll spool up asap. (I wish iCould afford to make a custom SC setup)
