Well, keeping it stock isn't gonna make a difference.
I would like to think you can run in Street Modified. This is what I'll be running when I get my KA+T put together and expect to be fairly, if not very, competitive. Class rules basically boil down to any engine from the manufacturer of the body can be put in the car and car must be legally registered for the street. That last part leaves me in the dark a little as far as SR swaps. I'm sure it wouldn't matter at local autoX...they'd probably let you run SM w/o a problem. Somebody might try to make a deal out of it at a National event, though. In that case, you'd probably be running something like E-Mod...you don't want to run E-Mod in a street car if you can help it.

Yup - what Lance said, except for that being competitive part. Around here, SM (an SM BMW M3!?) runs about 1 second off FTD - often set by a Catterham Super 7 (bitchin). Second is a fully built Impala SS and third would be me (if I were there) b/c everyone else is slow.
Also, I'd let you run a local event w/ an SR, but I think you would be protested at a National Tour event.
