What RPM do you guys shift up on when your daily driving?
My bro shifts up at 2...................... save gas!
What about you guys? do you like to save gas or smell it burning? =)

I shift around like 2.5-3 it depends. I don't like that weak feel when you shift too early. (Sorry, I don't know the terminology.)

by shifting at 2 and making rpms drop so low you are making your car struggle which cannot be good and in a sense might be using more gas
but even then, its so little you wont even know
Where you shift depends on the load on the engine and what car you have. If you feel it is straining, then you should be in a lower gear. lower rpm + more throttle = more gas than higher rpm and less throttle.
This is a pretty stupid question actually.

7,000 sometimes when I wanna really wind it out
6,000-6,500 when I am going hard
usually while driving to and from work, like 3,000

Depends on how I feel or how long I have allowed the car to warm up...
if the car is warm, then I will shift at 5k, but if I am not in a sporty mood, or the car is not yet up to operating temperature, I keep her at 3.5k or under.

3,500 rpm always. When driving hard just about 6k no less no more. Im always letting my engine break for me but it killed my gas like 2x as fast and let out some rotary engine kinda backfire. Im kinda loosing that habit due to gas prices yes im a ricer.

around 3-3.5k just cruisin around. around 6k-6200 when im in a "spiritied driving" kinda mood. you can really start to feel the car slipping out of the powerband after that.

2grand for coasting, 3grand for 'just in case' situations, ie. theives, gangsters, crooked cops, IRS.

that can't be right
unless you're not driving a ka24de
i haven't driven my car in a while but i'm pretty sure 5th gear at 3000 rpms is way faster then 45 mph.
i shift at 3000rpms. when i'm on it, i shift around 5500 rpms. i never take it all the way up.
oh and saving gas is more about how gentle and steady you are with the throttle.
obviously flooring it to 2000 rpms is going to waste alot more gas then a nice gentle accel up to 3500.

i drive normal, but once i bring it up to 3.5k.. the party begins! vtec kicks in, bring it up to 5k, down shift.. let the motor blow and search for another KA24DE to party with!

theives, cops, gangsters, and the IRS are hard to beat man. The only time i pull it past 5k is when some crazy bitch comes running 'im pregnant!'
Thats when you know its over. Pretend like you didn't hear, brake check her, and be gone with the wind.
Too bad i don't have that spaceship highrev. That'd b awesome. Everyone else is already done pulling all the way to 5th, while you are still in first, trying to catch your powerband.

So really how reliable would a ka24de be if it sees 4,500 rpm constantly on every gear. For lets say a year treated with some good oils.

oh wow, lol do you stall on 2nd gear
Considering i accidentally took off in 3rd gear once..i dont think it will stall 2nd gear.

yeah true, but i hate the sound of my car when that happens. it sounds like the driveshaft is about to fall off.

hey wat saves more gas while going on a steep uphill. pushing ont he gas pedal more nd trying to maintain a speed, or downshifting nd pushing on the gas a lil bit but being at a higher rev.

i shift up whenever this thread is completely stupid....
in other words, i hope you undershift your car until the point that it dies and says "please god, dont ever drive me again...cause you suck and barely deserve to drive a FF"
so yea, i shift my car when i god-damn feel llike it. if i want to go fast, i shift higher. if i want to go slow, i shift low. basically if you need to know when everybody else shifts then you dont really have a 240sx and your just stupid fucking troll who needs to die.
