hi.

I am running 195/50/15 on falken ziex's right now. I use them for mountain runs and would like to start auto-x, and they are pretty much caked as of now. I would like new tires.
(Also, I do not drift, don't know if that helps or has anything to do with my question)

I am on stock S13 alloy wheels (the factory ones on the DOHC 91-94 240SX's).

I have seen friends run Dunlop FM901 in 205/50/15 with NO problems in running, no tire flex, no problems with tires coming off beads, and running them on stock steelies (STEELIES!) or stock alloys. But I don't want FM901's.

I know that all tires, even though they say they are 205 or 195mm, are in reality different in size.
(I know damn well that falken azenis rt-615 in 205/50/15 willl not fit my stock alloys)

I would like to know if the YOKOHAMA AVS ES100 Tire fits stock alloys/steelies for S13 in the 205/50/15 size.
Now I know it might "Fit", but I want to know if it will fit without extra tire flex, falling off bead seat problem during hard driving. That's all I'm worried about.
And it's a $15 extra per tire difference between sizes too so I want to know if I should go with 195/50/15 :)

I would also know if there are any other people running 205/50/15 on their stock wheels and what tires they are running that fit.
(*I'm looking only for summer/max performance tires, not all seasons)

Thank you all in advance for the assistance.

i believe my friend ran 205 RT-215's on his stock steelies, and those are probably a "wider 205" than the es100's "205".

But if you want to be safe, get the 195. 10mm of width will make little or no difference if you aren't going to "drift" or go on a track.

Thanks alot.

Well, I plan on doing some track days when I get my car ready (still fixing overheating issues).

I know on the higher 3rd and 4th gear corners (i only worry abound 2nd gear in mountains) there's a higher chance of teh bead slipping.

If anybody is running AVS ES100's on stock alloys/steelies in 205 that would be nice to know lol.

But thanks alot for the help so far guys.

The stock alloys (S13 anyway) are 15" x 6.5". As a general rule you what keep the ratio of the wheel width to the tire's section width above 80%.
6.5" / (205mm x .03937 in/mm) x 100 = 80.5: good to go.
In word of note though, I used to run Yokohama AVS ES100's and they are pretty crappy autocross tires. The Ziex's I have now are much stickier and so much quieter. I would really go with the Azenis (215 or 615) unless you plan on using them for daily driving (they suck in rain). My 6 has Azenis ST215's and they are great for daily driving (cept snow).

Eh..... I highly doubt that Yokohama AVS ES100 tires are less grippier than Falken Ziex.

I don't know what kind of ZIEX's you are running, but the 512, is a piece of shit tire lol.
420 treadwear all season.
yeah, they're quiet but they're just not up to par for me.

Why would some all season tires be more grippier than a set of summer performance tires?
Doesn't make sense at all.

Oh, and I thought the Stock wheel size for S13 was 15x6''.
I do know they had factory optional 205/60/15 tires when they were available...
but alright, I'll go ahead and try running 205/50/15

All I know is that I raced with AVS ES100' for about a year and a half before I wore them out. They are not as grippy as one would think, the compound is fairly hard and very noisy. My Ziex 512 show definite improvement in all around street driving, but dont use them for racing. Mabye its because im running a different size (215/45-17). Bottom line, you could find a lot better high performance tire than those yokohamas.

Notice that I said alloys, I have could not find any information on the width of the stock steelies. If they are 6" then you are pushing the width running 205's
