I need people that changed their subframe bushings before. What are your recommendation on subframe bushings brand..what are some out there that you guys like?

Any tips on doing it at home?

Well, I didn't quite change my subframe bushings, but rather got subrame bushing collars. They're SPL, silver/aluminum, and stiffen up my rear suspension a lot. Ther ride is rougher but I have feel for the road and great control, less bounce and no shake around the corners. Could think about investing in those, 30 minute install and less than $70. Just need a jack set, good breaker bar and 17mm/19mm sockets.

you dont need subframe spacers after bushings are done. wont fit too

anyways iw as going to do solid bushings but i went spacers too , even w/ an extra subframe. talke dw/ some friends and drifters and recommended passing on it for my seutp. so i ewnt that route. got solid rear bushings (s14 subframe) so thats about it. used spacers

i got SPL rear ones

i would only get SPLparts.com subframe solid bushings if i was though, almost did.

get collars/spacers and you keep stock bushings in there (easiest route)
get solid bushings dont need collars (more time consuming/expensive)

splparts.com
read up bro.

I love the sh*t out of the spl parts subframe bushings. The rear end use to feel all disconnected, and I could feel shift around. Especially when taking off from stop signs. The rear would feel like it's shifting to the right on regular takeoffs.

Since I got the bushings, I feel the rear is more planted, and doesn't wheel hop.

I have noticed a slight increase in noise. I can hear the r/p meshing, and I can hear some gear whine from the trans in the rear end. But it's not over-bearing, or annoying. The exhaust, radio, road noise, and engine noise all cover it up.

ES sells urethane if you're concerned about noise, and JWT sells Delrin bushings that are midway between the two.

Get on ebay and buy some solid aluminum inserts. Put them in the freezer for a night, get a big hammer and smash away. The insert looks like it will never fit, but it does. The factory bushing can be a bitch to get out, I used an air chisel and demolished them. Solid inserts are the way to go, they feel so much better than anything else.

SPL subframe spacers are good... That's the first suspension mod I've done to my car... I used to get a lot of rear-end play, now it is pretty solid.... (not to the level I want it to be...)

True, but it's damn hard to screw up a hockey puck of aluminum. I'd see if it was a complex machine or had working or assembled parts, but a subframe bushing isn't any of those.

basically, i didnt really notice a difference when i put the subframe spacers in. i searched and read that "hella" (yes, i AM from norcal, deal with it) ppl put them on and noticed a HUGE difference....well i think those ppl had either stock suspension or atleast some cheap ass struts (like tokico hp's). here's a run down, i noticed LITTLE to NO difference with them after coilovers and other suspension mods. if you are under the impression that this is the end-all of all cheap ass mods, then you sir are mistaken.

my impressions = waste of $80 plus your own 20 min of labor. pm me with problemsz

joe: alotta ppl seem to notice the spacers. even xander said he felt a huge ass differnce, and i know guys with decent set ups that swear its one of the best mods to em. ill still pick up a set regardless,
200k bushings on my car....tryin to rid em all out, but dont wanna deal with the pulling of the subframe, etc yet.

Get those BUSHINGS!!! I remembered somewhere here someone was saying the bushings are adjustable, but thats balogna! the only way i see them as 'adjustable' would be interchanging spacers/bushings n stuff.

when i replaced my subframe, i filled the stock ones with polyurathane, and ran my subframe collars with it.. I unfortinutly dont track or drive my car hard enough to tell the difference from when i just had collars on my old subframe..

heres pics of what can be filled..

I dont think its worth pulling your subframe if you dont need to.

Planning to poly fill my subframe bushing with my solid subframe collars sometime this weekend. Hope it comes out good.

Any feedback or results from anybody that has done this?

It is a PITA but I think it was worth it. I put in 300zx subframe bushings and they went in with easily. Get a friend to help you out with it(I wish I did for the first half). But after doing this the car had better response and the noise in the rear stoped.

what about the urethane one from peak perfomance?
is it better than the aluminum?

I agree with you, when i put my subframe collars on my car (stock suspension, stock everything) all it did was make noise. id say it was a little stiffer but just a tad and it made alot of noise when you go in reverse. so now i have Stance GR+pro and spl ruca, toe, tension, ats diff and the collars and i guess my car is stiff but its still not where i want it, next im going to go spl solids.

i went nismo but havent driven the car yet. all i do know is that you stick them in the frezzer before you are going to do the job helps them slip in a bit easier. gl

i have the spl solid subframe and diff bushings. they dont bother me at all now but they definitely are loud. you got a bitchy female that rides with you or you just dont want the noise then dont get them. if you can deal with the noise i say go for it. you get to burn shit, use a sawzall, and a BFH what could go better with a six pack in the heat

just curious if theres a better solution than dropping the subframe.. i've had the aluminum spacers now for a while but the rubber buishings are making all kinds of noise..
