Let the car run for a minute or so then touch it, if its hot its the wrong one.

Thats the problem, my car doesn't start. I live in kansas and its kind of hard to find anyone else with a sr swap that I can check mine on. Theres no other way to check if its still good?

well if you have spark wouldnt that mean it works? or dont you have spark?

no spark. trying to figure out if its the ignitor chip, or ecu.

and your sure that the plugs arent fouled, only reason I ask is because that is just what happened to me, and you didnt mention anything about that,

yea the spark plugs are fine. i took out the coilpack and put a screw driver in it and layed it on something grounded (valve cover). cranked it and no spark. i checked the wires leading up tho the coilpacks. one was ground, the other one was 12 volt. and the other one didnt read out anything.

In a word, no. There is no way to check an ignitor, unless you have an electrical test bench where you can put power to it.

yes you can, but you will need the fsm.

you have to check continuity across the leads. The fsm shows you how.

it's on page EC-202 (p.337) of the S-14 manual.

do you have to check the continuity while the ignitor is plugged in? please help me for I do not have the FSM.

you can find the fsm on this site or on www.zeroyon.com

the chip does not have to be plugged in to check continuity... all it does it test the circuit across the leads...

if if tests bad like mine did, you can gently crack it open and you should be able to see the broken wire. remove the sticky gel packing and apply a small solder to repair the wire... done. 10 minutes tops.

i check the continuity and there is none on all 4 wires. so i opened it up and there were no missing wire that i could see. could the whole thing be bad

did you use the fsm to check or just check straight across the leads?

do you see any burn marks on the board?
