I could really use some help for my situation, so Pllleeease help me out if I'm missing something.

Just bought another 240, with a ka24de 1993. It's been having idle problems and cylinder one didnt seem to be firing in the beginning (now it is). Here's what I did:

Upgraded to Walbro fuel pump 255
changed the fuel filter to a z32 tt filter
changed the spark plugs to Iridium, then to OEM with a .039 gap, also tried the .044 gap
changed the spark plug wires, cap, rotor (OEM)
cleaned the IAC valve twice
reset the ecu
changed the injector #1 (all injectors are working now)
changed the MAF with a used one

Now the car doesn't idle as bad like at 3-500 rpms and dies (with the bad MAF). After I changed to the used MAF, the idle fluctuates up and down (800-1000). When I rev it doesn't cut off at 2500 rpms..I guess that's better...So now that I'm almost broke, I figure there's two possibilities left:

1st reason..the leftover three injectors despite they are running, are stuck open....
(before I changed the MAF the tips of the spark plugs were black- only 2,3,4.. and black puffs of smoke were coming out the tailpipe...plug #1 was clean, no carbon..had the signs of running rich) After changing the MAF, no smoke out of the tailpipe and I haven't checked the plugs yet...just figure it's still too early...

2nd reason...the ecu is bad....

possibly a 3rd reason: used MAF is still bad??

Someone please help me out here...I'm running out of ideas and cash..Thanks

Check vacuum hoses-- could cause idle problems and won't cost you a dime to check :) If a hose leaves the intake pipe, make certan it gets to something else.

First thing get a FSM because it appears as you are just replacing random parts that could cause problems. The FSM has troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures that will solve your problem...Good luck with just replacing parts. There are a lot of parts and acjstments that could cause it...

Have to agree with LedZep here...get a FSM!!! The FSM will help you diagnose the root cause of your idle fluctuation problems. The FSM will also help you put your ECU into Diagnostic Mode. By checking the Diagnostic Trouble Codes kicked out by the ECU you would have a better idea of what is causing your problems. Your problem could be caused by any combination of things which could have gone bad in your engine bay...something as simple as a cut or shorted out ground wire, bad sensor unit, blah blah blah...etc, etc, etc.

Pull the Diagnostic Trouble codes from the ECU then get back to us.....

You can get instructions on how to pull Diagnostic Trouble Codes from your ECU at the following website:
http://www.240sx.org/faq/index.html
After the page loads, look to the links on the left....look for ECM...Reading Trouble Codes DOHC...

Good luck..hope this helps...
