As you've probably seen there have been a lot of topics poping up   lately about making your own exhuast as an alternative to expensive JDM cat-backs. One thing I've heard about places that mandrel bend piping, is that custom one-off pieces will cost you more than the price per piece of say 10 pieces.

My idea is to put together a group buy of just the piping, and you could add whatever muffler you want. There are a lot of variables, so if this interests you any post some feedback on the following issues:

Resonator: yay or nay, probably would cost 30 bucks extra

Material: Stainless would obviously cost more but would it be worth it to you? As opposed to aluminized steel.

Pipe size: I'm hoping an exhaust place would let you specify a pipe size keeping it within the same group order. If not we'd probably go with 2.5 inches, but if I can get them to be flexable it would be a good exhaust for turbo and NA.

If theres significant interest in this I'll try to get some prices from places and see if the options listed above can be specified individually or will we have to make a definitive decission.

Just a word of advice. It will end up costing you more to do this and it will not net any gains and it will sound like shit.

I totally agree with west, for the money and time you waste on this "custom" exhaust, you could have purchased one with much more R&D put into it than you ever can. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

R&D? I could have them do an exact copy of the N1's piping to minimize bends. It would be easy to make an N1 knock off, that sounds better is SS and costs less. The mufflers on all those JDM exhausts are crap anyways.

But if no one is interested.... screw it.
