well, i'm not a fan of big bumpers like that, but it does need to be painted regardless. but i'm sure you like it so it really doesn't matter. my main suggestion is get that heater hose or whatever it is you have running from the turbo to the intercooler replaced. no need to polish it er anything, just some basic mandrel bent aluminum piping would do. but hey, at least you got a turbo right?

My guess would be omega.
damn those clear hoods are pricey <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
Nice car. I'm thinking of turboing my own KA. Prolly will get stage 1 somewhere this year if the money allows. Whom did you get your turbo kit from?

Very nice Boosted! Very clean engine bay. It looks great. Have you rescheduled the race with the Viper?
boosteds14
04-10-2002, 10:48 AM
yes, i have a date, two fridays from this week
tnord.-in person the bumper is small and not big at all, same size as stock, the sides stick out but i am fixing it. and that hose is from the blow-off valve. it has to be flexi hose because of the vibration.
the bumper is off an omega, like the r33 and it is getting painted next week
i have a carbon fiber hood so no need for a clear one
AND YES IT IS A FULLY BUILT KA-T DONE BY MYSELF AND I AM PUSHING AROUND 380-420whp at 25psi
and alot more when i spray it

beautiful engine bay, 400 whp huh? how much did all the work run you?
boosteds14
04-10-2002, 01:21 PM
YES 400whp
i did all the work myself execpt the machine work, boring put port and polish, etc. but i put it all together (from valves to pistons.)
i have every receipt from every part and the grand total for the motor is
$10,623.83
its alot, i kinda got carried away. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
i have yet to dyno the car, but i have every thing done as Chris May's 240sx and he dynoed at 438whp @ 22psi, I am running 25psi and nos so i believe 400 is atleast given

Have you done anything to the rest of the car? lets get some pics of the rest of her.
Nice work on the engine. Is she a bear to drive? how are her street manners?
Get the Bumper painted, and get thatsticking out fixed, and she'll be gorgeous! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

yes i have other pictures on my webpage
My Webpage (http://boosteds14.tripod.com/1997nissan240sxturbo)
the bumper will be painted soon. i also did the interior and trunk.
still on stock wheels but i got slicks for the track. it is alright on the road, definitly not a daily driver, idle is rough and gas mileage using boost is horrible.
i am putting in a bigger turbo(t60-1 hifi) soon so i will be making stronger topend power and awesome midrange. but of course it will bring more lag. this turbo is for sale and it spools at 2800rpms
boosteds14
04-10-2002, 01:50 PM
not to mention stock suspension.
i will be doing some setup this summer or fall. right now i need to pay off my credit cards.
after that suspension, wheels, and a roll cage

i was gonna say, that's an awfully odd and ineffecient intake tract. i take it that's a recirculating bov then? and for curiosities sake, what causes the vibration? the rapid pressure buildup from the bov?
boosteds14
04-10-2002, 02:10 PM
vibration--well it is hard to explain but i will try.
since there is a sturdy pipe from the compressor to the intercooler, movement is to a minimum, the blow off valve piping can not be to fixed because it will act as a brace and will cause for alot a stress on the connectors. if i move the direction of the bov, then i problably can use a hard pipe.

Good luck with the Viper.
How is the reliability with 25psi?
boosteds14
04-10-2002, 09:10 PM
it is an fmax manifold, and at 25psi, i dont know if it is reliable, i guess so i built the motor to withstand it

the intercooler is alright. i want to get a bigger one.
but what is most impressing to me that no one picks up on is that i did all the work myself, i had the machineing of the head and block done by a proffesional but as for everything else i did myself. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

and to answer a question- yes, i still have the stock rims and i will be rocking those for awhile, i kinda like them.
to keep u guys updated with the viper race--today he came over my house to take a look at the car and i took him for a spin. well i decided to play with the boost controller. i got 589miles on the motor so i thought it was broken in enough. well yes it was. OMG-- first i was just boosting at 6.5psi with the boost controller off. turned it on and set it to hit 14psi, wow what a difference. but i wasnt through. i used the high mode on the boost controller and tuned it for 24psi.
i never expereinced anything so violent. i was in third gear and it pulled. then shifted into 4th and i was gone. the dude(viper guy) said he couldnt believe it.
so i was very glad today's test and tune went very well and i am confident that i will kick viper ass.
