I doubt I'll get any feedback but I'm desparate now.

Okay, I installed GAB Revolution Stroke (I) coilovers last week. They have camber plates up front and regular pillow ball mounts in back. I love the ride and the fronts are pretty quiet. However, my rear shocks sound really noisy. I'd describe it as the sound of coffee purcolating but only louder and a bit metallic.

The sound is worst at slow speeds going over bumps/slowing down. At Highway speeds its barely noticeable. I've checked and its torqued to specs. Sound is definately coming from shock towers. Nothing is rubbing the coilovers from what I can see with car stationary. I'd say my car is lowered around 1.4" in front and 1.7" in back.

I'm guessing its the pillow ball mount and where it mounts to the shock tower and the fact that maybe its not sitting 100% flush since the mounting area of the Pillow mounts is greater than the stock. Or could it be coil bind? Would coil bind sound like that? And does coil bind happen more at slow (under 30mph) speeds. I don't think its from the spring unseating though because there is tension even at the shocks full extension.

Any suggestions on how to fix this. Maybe I could use some sort of bushing? Would I be able to use my stock rear upper mounts? If so maybe I'll go that route. I would appreciate any help whatsoever since I have tried at least 5 different boards now and emailed everyone I could think of. Here's a link to pix of them if that'll help diagnosing the problem.

Not sure about your GABs, but if your installing say springs/shock combo, non coilover *actually technically they are coilovers*, you need to retain the bumpstops or else the shock mount will slap up against the rear shock tower. Sounds like marbles crashing against a coffee can.

May want to check it out. It is easy. Just have someone push down on the rear of your car while you place a feeler gauge between the bolt and your shock tower. Should be able to see or measure a gap when the shock compresses. I don't think it is noise from your springs, it tends to sound more "squeeky", but you can always try coil wrap. PDM sells them but you can get them at any race shop

Well after further observation, it looks like it might be from coil bind. These springs have a lot of dead coils. When the car is sitting still the lower 5 or 6 coils are touching. I can see the powdercoating is missing from these areas that touch. Does it sound like I'm on the right track here?

The rear springs are 6 kg-mm. Would helper springs alleviate this. Or should I just go with a different type of spring. I believe these are standard 2.5" springs. I guess I want to find a spring with the same rate but have more widely spaced coils (stiffer material or larger gauge). How is the spacing on the ERS springs? Thanks again folx.
