i realize this is probably a stupid question, but ive always wanted to know why exhausts are grounded. can anyone give me a simple answer?

All the cars I have worked on, that ground has tore in half, so im guessing its a half ass ground.

They are hoping you'll touch the exhuast the first time when it's cold and it'll shock you, then you'll be less prone to touch it when it's hot.
