blah quakes aint shit, compared to current tornadoes, or every summer hurricanes......... a quake is like probably 1 time a year, and that 1 time is like the only significant one that woke u up.... random big ones rarely happens.....

people being scared of california because of all the earthquakes are falling victim to terminology. they think of all earthquakes as bad.
the southwest get a little drizzle now and again, but only the real crazy shit gets called a hurricane. what if every time there was rain or wind in florida it was called a hurricane? there would be at least one every day.

now comparing big earthquakes to actual hurricanes. there was that one in paso robles where a few people got killed. then the one in 94 in northridge, then loma prieta in 89, then san francisco in 06. there were a few more in there but these are the ones most people will think of. hurricanes hit the southwest every year.

when a hurricane is coming, everyone knows about it. so there's panic and evacuation and all that bs. and when it does finally come it lasts foreeeeeever.

on the other hand, when a big quake comes, it's over before you know what's going on. you don't have to bother with evacuation and coming back. you're already there. unless you got killed.
