View Full Version : smell from the enine bay...
it was kinda my fault. I let my friend test drive my car. didn't expect he would do crazy things to it. pushed too hard.
now, when i pop the hood, engine still hot and it's turned off. I could smell something like burned plastic or melted plastic. pretty nasty. not all over the place.. i think it's from the back of the engine. kinda on the pass side.. maybe not. but im sure it's from the back of the engine.
the smell is not strong. I dont smell it when i close the hood or inside the car nor driving. only when i pop the hood, i can smell it.
did my friend broke anything? i am getting worried. please help. thanks

Did you see any smoke? Drive it hard again, and look harder.

i think your dogs tail fell off while he was washing your laundry
that statement made as much sense as your post did
what the fuck did you just say?
why dont you examine it closer because its hard to know..what kind of car (year) what mods, etc etc etc...so vague
it's 95 240sx. stock everything under the hood.
there was no smoke. only the smell
probably clutch
i assume you dont really drive your car very hard
not too often. but I had raced my other friend's s13 couple times. Never smelled anything after the run.

after my friend messed with my car. I could smell it inside the car. only that day.
today is the third day after he messed with my car. I could still smell it when i pop the hood.

Thats your cluth alright. Why the fuck would you let your friend "test" drive your car anyway. Next time you drive it, redline it a bunch, and clutch kick at every light and stop sign. This should take care of your problem pronto.

the only funky smell my car ever made after hard driving was the brakes but after z32 brake swap smell was gone. if it still smells and it's been days get it on a lift and check it out if you can't see anything

^^ it would be a bitch to go for your hood release and get a bite, assuming you hadnt killed the thing.
That should say "OWNED" under it...

i have no idea whats up with that but i might be the clutch if you never drive it hard. also maybe a piece of electrical tape coming loose onto lieka manifold or something or maybe you're leaking a lil oil onto something hot. who knows? it should be fine....unless it IS a snake
