View Full Version : Quite possibly the weirdest problem ever...

OK... here's the situation.
Got my car back from the shop Thursday, had new rims/tires/springs/shocks/brake lines and a ASP Pulley put on with all new belts.
Today, I start to hear a squealing sound from the engine. At first thought it was brake pads but then it got louder and matched the revs so I figured it was one of the new belts on the pulley. It is SO LOUD and ANNOYING! How do I fix it? Should I be wary of the belt breaking or something?
But the weirdest problem by far is... whenever you press the brakes after acceleration with the headlights on the windshield washers turn on! WTF is with that?
It sounds like they either tightened the belt too much or used a smaller belt then what should be used. Get it fixed before it cause premature bearing wear.

the belt squeel, to my understanding, is because the belt is too tight/loose
the washer turns on when the headlight is on.... sounds like a wireing nonsense, i'm going to guess where toe problem is... you mentioned that you got your shocks done, the washer pump is near the front passanger strut, they might of touched a few wires, and became lose, so when you break aggressively, the wires MIGHT swing into eachother w/ thier exposed part, causeing the washer to spark on??? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'> or trigger something?
a good idea is to pull it back to the shop, and since ur pulley isn't done correctly, ask 'em 'bout the washer as well
worst come to wrost, pull the whole washer fluid resovor out, who washes their windsheld w/ washer anyways =b it smears all over the place, mine fell out, so i have absoultly no use for them

Hey... actually, sorry... it's the WIPERS not WASHERS. My fault. It's not even heavy braking, it's just the first time I tap the brake pedal after acceleration... for example, I accelerate, press the brake, hello windshield wiper (only one swipe), if I were to press the brake again.. nothing.
The belt is so loud though! Would it be dangerous driving to the shop 10 miles away?

i don't think it'll be bad to drive it 10 miles away, again i can be wrong, 'cause around where i work , i hear these belts everyday, these fools don't know how to adjust their tension on their belt...
on the other hand, wipers? not a clue...
