ok, we are doing a group buy on these intercoolers for few reasons. One they fit up in your front end without having to trim your bumper support.
Two, they have been track tested on 400 HP cars, which means they are the perfect size for people with modded, but not super crazy HP engines.
The actual core size without the end tanks is 20X6X3 . Its the perfect size for quick throttle response.
We will be working on piping kits for them as well for specific applications.
This is a 1 week special at $175 shipped for each and we need
10 people. Repeat core size is 20x6x3 , pic actually makes it look small. hahahhhaha

definately let me know about the core and piping for s13 with redtop motor. The other intercooler groupbuy looks really nice esp with the sizing of the core and aluminum piping. If you can provide a cheaper route there maybe a lot more interest. thanks.

I will work on piping, right now its just the core.
as far as shipping goes it should not be more than $10-15. per core

Well, in that case, if you can do $170 shipped, count me in on the GB.

Does this come with endtanks?
Is it bar and plate, or tube fin?

Are these similar to the ones on ebay for the 160-180 price range?

Is this the same one your getting?

Almost same dimensions, and claims 400hp also.
If so do you have test information on it. temp changes, psi drop etc.

ok I am going to try and answer all questions. the inlet and outlet size are 2.5 inches. do not let people tell you that you need a 3 inch inlet or outlet to flow horsepower. That is marketing . For the kind of horsepowers numbers this intercooler can handle the inlet and outlet are perfect. On the 400 hp tip its been dyno'd at that and like I said in the opening of this thread one of these is on a 400hp car. I would say that it could run all day long around 350-375 without breaking a sweat. no I do not have pressure drop numbers. I can try and get some. It is going on a Formula D drivers car that also competes in D1. It is bar and plate and if you look at the pic yes the end tanks are there . I listed the core measurements minus the endtanks cause thats the main area you get your charge cooling from.
The pic of the one on ebay is similar, but I cannot say they are the same.
I will say you take your chances on ebay. As far as vendors go.
a quicklist of people so far reads as follows.

not bad five more people and this will rock. as far as piping goes I am indeed working on a complete kit with piping and hoses. though the kit price will be a lot more than the individual coolers.
pricing is officially now $170 shipped plus $5 for paypal.

Count me in for one of these intercoolers.
Can you give me an estimate of how long it would take to get mine? Also, do you have a timeframe for the piping kit release and pricing?

Thanks,
Marco

once we have ten people the coolers will be picked up and ship now seeing as I did this as a one week deal we have around 2-4 days more before it closes so people get on board. As far as piping and hoses go I am working on it and I should have a piping and hose set uo in around a 1 1/2 - 2 weeks . I will be polished mandrel bent aluminum piping.

ok guys, since I did go out of town over the official week end of the group buy. I will extend it to this wed to try and get the extra people on board. I also might talk to the supplier and see if I can do an initial at 8 people.

Just tell me when to send the money. Now if someone backs out and I send the money I assume you will just send it back? Paypal will be sent as soon as 10 are reached this sounds like deal. How is this intercooler which is smaller than a lot rated to 400 hp when some that are 5 inches longer are only rated to 300. I guess it would just be less efficient up there.

How much boost was the 400hp car running? I'm going for ~350 wheel and I have a huge novelty size Hybrid fmic (24x11.5x3) which is probably total overkill but it came with the car. Considering this instead when you guys come out with the +piping version.

ok guys, the door is still open for late comers. I was putting a time frame on it because some people wanted it to move quickly but they are lagging.
so there is still room for another 5 people who want in.

when piping is available it is going to be part of the kit. It will not be sold seperately.

the thing is piping is specific to a particular intercooler. Most intercoolers do not all have the inlet and outlet in the same places. Once piping is made for a specific intercooler it fits that intercooler. It does not mean it would fit brand x's intercooler, unless the inlet and outlet on the end tanks, was in exactly the same place. This is usually not the case which is why you do not see a lot if any being sold seperately.

i just want it because it is roughly in the same space. plus i can get reducers or transition hoses to fit my intercooler

06-29-2005, 10:21 AM
this intercooler is great! i have the same one in my car. thanks dave!
as for the piping, i am using the same piping from my previous fmic (spearco/HKS). the car was dyno'd at 401 whp before i changed ecu. instant throttle respsonse... it hides and tucks inside the bumper support!

That intercooler is bad ass. I am extremely happy with it but am still looking for piping to do a custom install. It looks like a sweet intercooler though and will fit perfectly in my bumper hole.

Got my battery and have been driving the car with the new FMIC. Very responsive and feels better than the shitty SMIC i had. Please let the ones that bought the intercooler know when the piping kit is complete. Could you give a rough estimate (nothing for sure) on what the piping kit could cost? Thanks alot for the great buy.
