I drove from Indianapolis to Pittsburgh in my 240sx today... Wow, I made 368 miles out of 12.xx gallons of gas, which translate to almost 30mpg (highway)... Consider my 240 has 147k, that's not too bad :naughtyd: . My Altima barely gets 260 out of 12 gallons, and she only has 117k.
how you guys doing gas mileage wise?
i get about the same as you do, in my s14 (KA). Makes me miss my 2nd gen sentra, that thing got almost 40gal highway.

since i bought an ebay air filter, changed out fuel filter, cleaned my intake tube, got my cruise working, and bought NGK laser platinum spark plugs, i'm now seeing 27 mpg (around town and hwy), as opposed to the old 21 (hwy).

how fast/what RPM are you guys usually driving at on the highway to get such great gas mileage?

i get like 27-28 highway... and 23 over all
usually just keep you rpm below 3k and you should be good...
also have a steady foot on the throttle

to secret to insuring good gas mileage is that imagine there is an egg between your foot and the throttle
simple as that

Man, I've made a lot of omelettes in my car then :eek3:
Heh, I get decent gas mileage with my car, I don't drive a hell of a lot either, I put about 1000 miles on a month and I only spend about 20 bucks a week on gas so it's all good. My friend has a MKIII Supra with some issues and spends 300 a month on gas... What a dumbass.

i shift hella early, like, 2.3-2.5k. Sometimes, i push it higher, just cause. Gets just around that much MPG.

i've gotten 31 mpg once whilst driving 85mph.

yeah, a proper running engine (tune up) and freeway speeds really boost mileage...you would be surprised how much it actually drops when your peppy...
i drive conservatively 80% freeway and 20% city and i get like 23, i used to get 25, maybe its time for a tune up

i shift at or below 2500.
set my cruise is i'm going anywhere that i know i'll keep a constant speed on.
and now that i've fully adjusted to driving on my coilovers, i can drive a curvy road at a constant speed and not have to think about the possibilities of my car rolling when i turn hard, lol.
I have a base model s14, so no cruise for me :(

I had cruise when I had a base model S14, I guess I was lucky... My Coupe I have now has BUTTONS for cruise, but it is an auto-to-manual car, so they are just there for garnish... I haven't paid enough attention to how many miles I am putting on it between fillups, but I only have to fill up once weekly

i just measured two days ago; the last tank of gas averaged about 22 mpg combined hwy/city. i used to get about 16 before quickie tune up

Made it from Davis, to San Fernando Valley on one tank of gas, averaging 85 to 100 mph. If I can recall, the gas lite came on after the grapevine...

I just took a 1000+ mile trip. Avg. gas mileage was 31mpg. I've got 170k on my KA.

I just picked up my '96 240 a couple weeks ago (167k miles). First day in the garage, I changed the plugs and wires. Haven't done the tranny (5 spd) or diff yet. I drove the 240 to work last week - 42 miles one way to Pittsburgh, PA and back. Being that I was enjoying the 5 spd after not having one for about two years, I was taching it to 4 and 5 grand pretty often. Even still, I calculated the mileage to be 32 mpg. My truck ('02 Dodge Dakota QuadCab AWD 4.7L V8) gets about 16 on this same trip. I couldn't be happier. Now I only have to deal with crappy gas mileage in the winter.

wow i got about 28mpg on the highway with the sr20det with mods, but at 14 psi i can damn near watch the gas guage drop

also depends on what size your wheels are what size ur tires are, can make a diff on what you think your getting on gas mileage

i have cruise! :2f2f: mines a base model too; so i take it that you have hardtop also? cuz if so, fuck cruise and be glad you have hardtop...
yeah, its a hardtop, i assume you mean "no sunroof"
I've been searching like nuts, i cant find anything about retrofitting cruise :(

I was so happy to drive the 240sx (it was down for over half a year), and consider the number of miles on the car, I couldn't be more happy to get 30 mpg on the highway...

I was getting 380+ to the tank, but it seems to have dropped off recently down to about 340 or so.
