Ok guys, heres another question for ya. I have a s13 sr20 with a stock turbo and standard bolt-ons intake exhaust... running 10 psi and i really need to ditch this stock sidemount intercooler. I need to know if I can run a bigger intercooler like a hks typeR or arc or is the pressure loss gonna really hurt me. I plan on running 400 to 500 hp in the future. So would it be better to buy the badass intercooler now or just settle for a greddy or hks type s untill the buildup and bigger turbo? :duh:

If you're really going for 500-600 hp, its gonna be fairly hard. You'll soon realize its not as easy as you think.

Second, if you're really serious, go ahead and get a Greddy TYPE R or any "type R" version intercooler, meaning the one with a little more flow i.e. A VSPL vs a RSPL you want the RSPL version.

Third, more realistically, go for 300-400 hp. VSPL will do great with 300, and should cover 400.

Last, no the pressure drop should'nt hurt you too much.

Thanks a bunch for the info. yeah there is no way im shooting for the 600hp that would be a straight dyno queen

hmm.. you 'could' just wait for the bigger turbo upgrade.. if you just put a huge intercooler on, and you're gonna be running on your stock T25 turbo, unless you have lots of bolt ons to support your engine, you'll have mad turbo lag.

even with plenty of "bolt-ons" other then a turbo on a massive innercooler you will still have alot of turbo lag. if you seriosly want 500whp which is still insane in a car that weighs about 2700lbs. jsut get an innercooler off of ebay for now or stick with the side mount and don't run more then 7psi

i know someone who 'had' a stock T25 turbo on his car, but had about $12k worth of mods on his car, not counting the SR itself, and i dont believe he had a crazy ammount of turbo lag, he just maxed out the turbo.

Maxing a turbo out is pointless, you are just creating more heat and the effeciency goes through the floor. There are formulas for sizing a turbo to an engine, and there are formulas and methods of sizing an intercooler as well...

Use the resources and you will be far better off in the future rather than just bolting random parts on...

true, i understand that 'maxing a turbo out is pointless' but, people like to see what they can do. the turbo's gone, and he's got uh.. an hks gt30 something..
