Ok, I tried to start my sr20 blacktop for the 1st time today and hears how it went:

1. Took the cam position sensor off and cranked it a few times to get the oil pressure up and make the light go out.
2. next i plugged the cpsback in and tried to fire it up, of course this took a few tries but i finally got it running and found a leak coming from the heater hose and a small amout of smoke coming from the ground wire that is coming from the block to the bulkhead.
3. so i shut it down to fix the ground problem 1st. this took about 8-10 tries "starting and then stopping the motor" till i fix it.
4. now i was on to the leakand shut the car down to do so. put a new hose on and tried to start the car. This is were i am stuck at. I tried to crank the car and all i got was clik clik clik, and the rpm needle shot over to the other side and stayed. I tried it agian and the same clik clik clik, but the rpm needle went back to 0. So i am thinking that it is the starter. I tried to tap the starter with a ratchet but nothing. I took the starter to advance auto parts and ran a bench test on it to me it seemed to do better than the 240 one that they had.

but either way my car has been down for over 6 months and now this i am getting really frusterated with this car. please help me fast!!!!!!!!

smoke comming from a ground wire? Check your voltages:

1) - to + battery terminals while cranking (less than 10V = bad bad something)
2) - bat terminal to starter + terminal while cranking (less than 10v = bad something)
3) + bat terminal to starter + terminal while cranking (more than .5v = bad cable)
4) engine block to - bat terminal while cranking (more than .5V = bad ground)

rapid clicking noise when you turn the key???
put a charger on your battery.

does the ground smoke with the key in the on position?
