helmets and lsd

ok two threads in one... lets see how this works out :hug:

i've been looking to buy a helmet, and couldn't decide on which. could you guys post your experience with auto-x helmets? bell, simpson, sparco, bike helmets, etc etc.

and now the lsd, what are some symptoms of it not being broken in properly?

I have a bell M2 PRO. It cost mad money but the cool thing about it is that it's made of a kevlar composite and it's lighter weight. Also, when you buy expensive lines of helmets, you get to order them in your hat size which is a plus. The first m2 pro I had was one hat size too small but it ended up getting stolen along with all my other shit so when I ordered another one, I got the proper size. If I were you, I'd go to a local helmet dealer and try on helmets and figure out what size you wear because there is nothing more uncomfortable than driving with a helmet that is too tight or too loose when you are on the track.

As for the LSD, I really don't think there are symptoms. Some people don't even break in their LSD's and they work fine. Get used to the clunking and change the oil every 2-3 months depending on how much track and mountain driving you do.

BTW, people with helmets usually have LSD's so these are easy topics to merge into one thread.

I like the Bell helmets because they are a great price for the features given. I have an M3. Light, great ventilation, good field of vision, great fit on my odd shaped head. Like Flybert says, go try on a helmet before you purchase it. Proper fit is important. Second choice was the Bieffe Predator and third was a Simpson. Stand21, Sparco, OMP..were too expensive. I got a SA2000 helmet for autox because I want to do track events later on, why buy two helmets?

Flybert, I'm unusual, I don't got LSD :( .

depends on what kind of driving you'll want and what kind of tracks/events you go to,
larger tracks probably require full face + auto compliant (no bike helmets) and some won't allow older than year 2000 compliant
some don't care as long as it's a helmet (bike or auto)

i got some cheap gforce open face helmet from jegs a while back for 150, good enough for practice drift events and autox, if you're truly going to spend alot of time track driving, get a premium full face helmet and go try some on first like others mentioned

as far as lsd is concerned, describe any problems you have in detail for people to help out...

i got a bell m2000 moto x helmet... work well on the track and when i bmx...plan to get a motocycle in the near future so i guess the moto x helmet is multifuctional.

just make sure that the helmet meets snell and dot requirements for saftey... google snell / dot and you will get what kind of helmet will work best for your application

i have a Bell Tourlite open face. it fits my fat head quite well, and is open face. every closed face helmet i would try, would squish my chin so i opted for the open face. i have a big superman like chin.

this is funyn to me because everyone use to make fun of me for having a big head. So when it came time to order my helmet, i was thinking, "oh gosh, time for the XXL". So i took a look at the sizing chart and measured my head at the corresponding spots, and as it turns out, i'm a small Medium.

i'm looking into buying a helmet and i found really good price and has sa2000
its' bell pyrotect openface helmet. i think this is good enough for me.
a lot of guys here at my work uses this helmet, and they have pretty good expriences on tracks.

Be cool and use a skating helmet. Haha, i use some kinda moto helm. It really works on Initial D too. I can feel the touge aura surging... :rolleyes: Get a Barbie bike Helmet. Coolest kid on the block.

And i've got a welded diff.

^^^ that reminds me of that guy that took his s13 off the jump or some sand jump nd tha cars flipped over nd u see him smiling out of the door nd he has a bike helmet.
