I have a '90fb maroon with a black interior and grey upholstry. I just put in my deck from my old car and it's silver so it doesn't match anything inside. Just for shits and giggles I thought that if I paint some of the interior plastic (not all of it) that it would look good. Maybe even change the steering wheel and shift knob to make it match a bit better in addition to the paint. Has anyone done this and do you think it will look shitty? I welcome all suggestions, comments and torments. Thanks.

It'll look great. Been done many times. There are Dash kits you can get too. I'm too tired to find the link right now, but My240likenoother has a few pics of his interior up here:

I wouldnt paint the shift knob, just get a nice brushed aluminum replacement. Make sure you get a spray paint that dries hard. Make sure you give it a few light coats. Dont spray too much at a time, or it will drip and run..and that looks like crap. Dont be afraid to go over it lightly first, let it sit over night, then spray it again. Just make sure its totally clean before you spray it, and between coats. If its not cleaned right, the paint will NOT stick correctly. Years of Armor All have probably built up, so try and spray some sort of grease cutter spray (formula 409 or something) on it for starters. Make sure theres no dust on it when you go to give it a 2nd and 3rd coat of paint.

Use a few coats of krylon primer, then a bajillion coats of the krylon finish paint. Worked out great in my car. Dosen't chip or anything.

Thanks for the replies. I know how to paint it and I will spend a lot of time on it to do it right the first time. The player that i'm matching everything to is gonna be thrown out cuz it makes road noise, so I'll have to rethink the whole idea.
