KA24DE Question

Lately my engine (131K miles) has been acting strange. For the majority of the time, it is fine but sometimes it seems to have a mind of its own. When I come to stop, or just put the car in neutral it will lose power and die on me. Sometimes it will take a couple times to get it to start and stay running. I haven't noticed any loss in power or gas mileage, just that it does that from time to time. What could be the cause of it, I have looked into the IACV and if need be would clean that. I have another thought that it could be the plugs and wires (which are due for a change anyways.) Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance.

here is a list of things to check and do.....:

1.check all vacum lines
2.check timing.... (that way you can get it to idle where its supposed to)
3.check all vacum lines!.. haha
4.mafs pluged in.....
5. emissions stuff is up to par... sometimes that stuff will cause that when there are cracks and broken emissions stuff.....
6.plugs gaped properly....
7.wires

and thats about it for now... cant think of anything else at the moment... good luck

U got a check engine light on? If so take it to autozone!

i think your oversized sig is causing it.

It can also be caused by condensation in your fuel system. Do you run it low on fuel for extended periods of time, like 1/4 of a tankish? that can alow condensation to build up in your tank and cause it to die, I had that problem a few years ago.

a fast way to check for vacuum leaks is to spray carb cleaner around the engine bay with the engine running.

Might as well mist some water on the spark plug wires while your at it too just to make sure you don't have a messed up wire somewhere.
