I tried searching but im not finding what im looking for. Im tryin to figure out at which point do you need to change the valvetrain for a camshaft swap? Is there a maximum lift and duration that stock valvetrain can handle?
For example:
Boost Designs turbo cams stage 3- Stage 3 boost designs turbo cams are made from billet cores. not regrinds. these are specially ground to our specifications and uses your stock valve train. intake 392 degrees lift-280 dergrees duration. exhaust 382 degrees lift-270 degrees duration. these stage 3 cams are most effective between 3200 to 7000 rpm these cams are full blow race cams. they are for the most horsepower possible out of your turbo ka24de-t, great for track not as streetable as the stage 2 cams,

Crower Camshafts, 262 degrees Step 2FI Nissan 240SX 91-98- Crower Camshafts, 262 degrees, Step 2FI Nissan 240SX 91-98
These cams have been optimized specifically for turbo applications for your KA24DE. Low duration, high lift profile. This cam set requires upgraded valvesprings.

Crower Camshafts, 276/280 degrees Step 3 Nissan 240SX 91-98- Crower Camshafts, 276/280 degrees, Step 3 Nissan 240SX 91-98
For the hard-core street KA24DE enthusiast in mind, the Crower Stage 3 cams are the way to go. A rough idle will mean street use for only the ultimate enthusiast. RPM range 1750-7000+. This kit requires upgraded valve springs and retainers.

im not sure i understand this, how is it that the camshaft from boostdesigns is bigger than the two others but dont require a valvetrain upgrade, maybe this is a dumb question but i just need help.

just because a cam has more duration or lift does not necessarily mean it needs valvetrain upgardes mainly because the primary need for alteration stems from profile or the shape of the cam lobe if one recommends it and you buy that cam perform the necessary modifications if you choose one that says no modification needed than dont worry about it.

what you need to look at is the actual amount of lift each cam has. duration just tells you pretty much te shape of the lobe. The crower stage 2 cams I believe require aftermarket springs and retainers. Better yet going to www.ka-t.org/forums/ will yield much more promising results. Since they are a site solely based on the love for the KA and aftermarket backing.
