You ever think about looking at it yourself? Or is that too complicated?
Or you could at least tell us what year/model/trim 240, which changer, and which headunit.

I have the in dash 3 disc option on the 97-98's. IIRC all decks in the 240's are made by Clarion but use a different plug then normal and you won't be able to get one to use the ipod. You'll have to use the RF modulator.

3disc is made by Alpine. All 6discs are Clarion. Most CD decks are Clarion, save for a few Panasonic produced models.
And you can easily tie into the AUX input and run a switch, though again it would depend on the model.

i have a 1996 240sx se. Should i try and take out my radio and check it myself or is that alot of trouble and is my goal expensive, or would it be cheaper to buy a radio with an aux imput.

the cheapest way to get mp3s on your car... buy that stupid thing that plugs into your cigarette lighter and broadcasts FM signal; plug your ipod into it. turn on your radio, set the right FM channel. voila, mp3 on the go.
