Alright I'm giving a heads up to you guys only. Rota will be releasing a new wheel called the GP1 in June which is a replica of the SSR SP1 Professor. What offset do you guys need +25? It will come in 17x7.5 and 17x8.5. The lowest will be +25/30/35. LMK and it will be offered as 5 or 4 lug.

Those sizes and offsets suck pretty hard. try 18x10 or something with a +20 or below and people will bite.

and people will bite.
What people? Hardcore dorifto dorks?
People will bite just because they are knockoffs, will be offered for both lug patterns, and can be staggered with a reasonable size (17in.)
Nice looking set of rims. Why 2 threads though?

i might be interested if the sizes were a little better (17x9/17x10) with lower offsets and if the price was good.

I'd say offer at least a +18 and i'd be in for sure. Also, try widths like 8.5 and 9.5.

i'd like something like a 17x9.5 +15 all around.

I'd like 13x7 -20... oh and could you add about 95 spokes to that wheel? and can I get it gold plated?

i was so happy when a shop gave me a heads up for these wheels...been waiting patiently and quietly ever since...the sizes are not too bad, but the offsets could be a little lower...those sound like perfect sw20 sizes...i dont get it, are you asking?..if you are, nothing over +18 please :x: i smell the demise of the FNs/gramlights...

18x9 +20 all around

ugh, those sizes are good (unless you are hardc0re JDM dori dori master and you need the 18x10 -25 offset to help you drift), maybe offset could be lower by 10-15mm for clearance reasons.
actually, on second look, the design of the rim looks like it could look relaly good as 18s.
Looks good, can't wait to see the actual wheels... hope they have different colors and some reverse dish design... but then its Rota so I'm not holding my breath.

what he said.
and, what are you guys smoking? 17x7.5/8.5 are good sizes? haha And the offsets suck to boot.

if these come in 4 lug, they'll say fake all over it.
Rota just doesnt have the machinery to produce wheels in widths greater than 8.5.

SSR makes 'em w/ a 4-lug pattern for Hondas.

Look for yourself..
anyways..
Those sizes are weak sauce! 17x7.5 and 17x8.5.. w/ +25 as the lowest offset WTF?
How 'bout 17x9.5 +15 or 17x10 +12.. something along the lines of the 5Zigen's FN01's..
Whatever.. Rota's core market is Honda Civic/Integra/Accord/Prelude and Miatas.

^^^ word.
ATLEAST, make them in the same sizes available for the fno1s. +25 is ok i guess, for the average consumer, but those widths are horrible. I wouldnt buy them, but if these are gonna be geared toward the RWD crowd, dont offer anything less than 8.5 inches wide. 7.5 is just ghey.

17x8 +20 17x9 would be decent staggers... Make em in white (got an obession with white rims)..
turtl631
05-04-2005, 11:34 AM
7.5" and 8.5" widths would be nice for a 225/45 and 245/40 stagger for a non drift setup. Although since these are targeted to 240s, the chances of finding someone who doesn't really care about drifting, or at least having their car look like they are drifters, are slim...

Shoot might as well make them in a 17X8/9/10 with good offsets like 5/10/15/20 in 4 and 5 lug. I agree with SW20>>S14, that size is good for a MR2..but the offset is too low...
But the design looks good...Rota vs. :mepoke: GM lights for me

Depends on the price then its the size of them. If they are cheap w/ a sucky size then it wouldnt mind but if they try to overprice them with a crappy ass size then its not worth it.

blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh better size and offset, wide widths low offset..

05-04-2005, 09:42 PM
If they came in a 17x9 +25 and a 17x10 +35 then I would seriously consider them. I hope they dont weigh 30 lbs though!
turtl631
05-05-2005, 12:19 AM
Seeing as the real wheels weigh a ton, I doubt these will be light. Some of the sizes are okay, but offset definitely needs to be under 30, even if you want to run proper fitting tires. +20 shoudl be the highest offset offered in any width...

haha already have seen these wheels. they sit in a ship in riverside. yah those look clean on a MR2. for 240s at least a good 25mm spacer is needed to get my acceptable range of flushness. yah those wheels weight something not light. But for a street wheel that you can curb and bash with out remose. I'd get a set to save my goodies for the cruise and hard parking days. haha.

17x9 +0 im so down to buy a set!!!!

A 17x8.5 +25 is not bad on a S13 actually. Will fit without any fender rolling and still look flush - not the past the fender with stretched tires look. I'm mainly concerned if the F/R combo look staggered and dish. If they're cheap enough I'd care less if it was fake, I won't need to worry about ruining them.

how much are these wheels going to run for? are 7.5 width with a 25 even going to sit flush?
vinhisbored
05-05-2005, 10:31 PM
don't look too bad.. but then again.. it's not the real thing.. just wondering like everyone else about how much they'll be running for..
woah. rota is going to make 2/3 piece wheels? ssr and works do make 1 piece version of these wheels.
If rota makes them in good size and offset to clear my setup, then i'd be in for a set only for track.

Yeah, I saw this the other day... I was hoping if I didn't say anything about them, they'd just go away...LOL From what that GB says, they're not even making the 8.5, only the 7.5...

They look real good. Actually even though Rota has some nasty wheels i never seen their gram light replicas or any of those in the gb. If they had some decent sizes not meant for honda i think 5zigen will have some competition.

if rota did make them wider than 8.5 in, no one here would buy it ? why because they will charge most becuase they will have to buy new machinery to do so. But IF they do, you guys still wont buy it, why because more than likely it will not be a 2/3 peice wheel. And they will most likely have "crap" offset. Then more than likely, everyone will complain about the weight. Then everyone will not be like why buy some "fake" wheels need some super duper jdm ssr real thing. And IF Rota come close in what everyone here want, no one will still buy them becuase it is ROTA, which is a company that most company see as cheap/crap/unreliable/blah blah blah. If you own Rota, you would do the same. Not everyone is hardcore super drifter. They make wheels that can be used for more than one car. Im guessing they rather make money by selling volume instead of orginal design for a niche market.
if you guys want "good" wheels, dont even bother looking at rota.
At least rota gave us an options for wheel that isnt that bad. 8.5 with +25 up front wont be bad on our cars, then go buy two real ssr 9.5 in the rear or something.

Rota actually makes good castings from what I hear...
Not bad? Yah it's not bad, its horrendous. 7.5 + 25~!?
Atleast give us a decent offset.
And they look real good!? What are you smoking?
Even real professors in those sizes are ugly.
I would buy a set if they came in 17x9 + Not suck.

hey it way better than only offering 7.0 or 7.5 with only a 45 offset right?
