Hello guys.  I'm looking for a car to replace my '91 NX1600, and it's either going to be a '93+ MX-6 LS, or an S13.

I have limited funnds, so i'm either going to buy the MX-6 and leave it stock (because it will cost so much...), or buy an older S13 and give it a paint job and some mods.  I'd like to keep the 240 n/a for reliability and simplicity,  so i'm wondering what i'll be able to accomplish without a turbo.   If I find one that doesn't need a paint job, i'll have a very good amount of cash to invest in the car.

What does a stock 16 valve 5 speed S13 run in the 1/4 mile?  I know the MX-6 does it in low-mid 15's, and my goal for the 240 would be that fast or better.  Is this possible with only an intake and an exhaust from the head back?   I would really love to get the 240 because of the RWD, but the MX-6 is such a gorgeous car,  and decently quick as well.

i'd go with the S13 myself...i don't know why though &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sigh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':rolleyes:'>
you could probably get low to mid 14's all motor and good traction. high compression pistons, cams, limited slip, port and polish, oh yeeaaah

Illegal rebuilding of the engine, you lose.

s13s are a 16 second car. Some n/a mods such as intake, exhaust, header, and ECU should pop you into mid 15s or so.

Somebody smarter than me come and support my claim

I'm just baffled by what you mean when you quoted funds, and said "illegal rebuilding of the engine" maybe I'm missing something....

An MX-6 DOES NOT get mid to low 15's stock.

Sure they do. &nbsp;15.5 is pretty common for good drivers, &nbsp;and I've seen 15.2 run by a stock MX-6 LS. &nbsp;

So with a header, exhaust, intake, and ECU I will be in the miid 15's with a 5 speed S13?
